Bab 2 LANDASAN TEORI 2.1 Pengertian Green Computing Menurut Adrian Sobotta (2010, p25-26) “Green IT have been focusing on how to make technology itself greener, e.g. reducing energy consumption” atau dapat diterjemahkan menjadi Green IT atau Green Computing adalah memfokuskan tentang bagaimana menciptakan teknologi itu sendiri menjadi lebih hijau (ramah lingkungan), contohnya dengan mengurangi konsumsi energy. Menurut Jasson Harris (2008, p22) “Green Computing revolves around making sure that people are practicing how they can save resources when they use the computing technology” atau dapat diterjemahkan menjadi Green Computing berputar pada masalah untuk memastikan kepada orang-orang berlatih bagaimana mereka menyimpan sumber daya ketika mereka menggunakan teknologi komputasi. ... middle of paper ... ...a yang berjudul Introduction to Toxicology bahwa toxin merupakan “Any poisonous substance of microbial (bacteria or other tiny plants or animals), vegetable, or synthetic chemical origin that reacts with specific cellular components to kill cells, alter growth or development, or kill the organism.”
Efficiency is not always the answer, according to David Owen, in his novel The Conundrum, explains that society is headed in the wrong direction, believing that to be greener we need to make our everyday lives more efficient when in reality we need to change our behavior. As consumers, people want to be sustainable and preserve the Earth while greedily expanding our collection of trinkets. Efficiency can be beneficial, but to make the world a greener one, it is essential for people to change their behavior, not efficiency of the products.

As stated earlier, forensic toxicology is the examination of toxic substances in human tissues, organs, and body fluids that may have contributed or caused death to an individual (Tilstone, Savage, Clark, 2006). When referring to toxicology, the important terms to focus on are “poisons” and “poisoning”. Poison can be defined as a substance which, when introduced into or applied to the body, is capable of injuring health or destroying life (Robertson, 1929). A simpler definition of poison would be that it is the malicious intent on giving a drug or substance to an individual.
By purchasing 41% of its electricity from renewable sources, Dell’s has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions created from their facilities and transport by 16% since 2015 (7). The image below shows the various Dell facilities and the different types of renewable energies they are generating or producing (Figure2) (4). By 2020 they aim to be running on 50% renewable energy sources.
In conclusion, going green in the workplace is catchy new trend. Choosing to go verdant can be a grueling task and one that is confronted with some unique pros and cons. Maruti in recent years, owing to several innovative measures like investing in green equipments, its employee-driven campaigns and Kaizens (shop floor improvements), has drastically reduced the consumption of power and water and the waste generation in its facilities. Company also credits this decrease in utility consumption to its adoption of “just-in-time” approach towards operations. Some of the facts and figures supporting Maruti’s claims are (figures available for year 2007):
When every IT professional starts their journey into the IT Sector, they are bound to come across social issues which will have to be dealt with professionally. One important Issue is being green in Information Technology. The earth’s resources are continuously becoming scarce whilst the demand for them increases sharply. Every IT professional should understand that power consumption does not cover the whole green IT spectrum. Recycling dangerous electronic waste, optimising/virtualising servers to distribute workloads, having a long term green policy, reducing your workplace carbon foot print such as the paperless desk and an efficient data centre-business continuity model; these are a few examples of issues that professional must consider as these issues all occur in the green IT world.
People are always looking for ways to save money. By using “Green” computer components you can save money and energy. Everyone having a computer powered on days at a time can use up a lot of energy, which will lead to a large energy bill. There is a lot of different ways to adapt your computer to be more energy efficient. Using more energy efficient computer components and changing settings in your operating system will save you big. By purchasing more energy efficient components such as processors, hard drives and computer monitors you can make your computer consume less power thus saving energy.
On the other hand, there are other disadvantages related to costs when a business decides to go green. For example, sometimes the costs to install and maintain “green” materials may not offset the savings in the long or short run. In the event that th...
“Going Green” means to pursue knowledge and practices that can lead to more environmentally friendly and ecologically responsible decisions and lifestyle. It is a movement that many participate in to help improve the environment. Technology improves the “Going Green” movement since machines can help one save money, energy, and resources from being wasted (i.e. using hand dryers in replacement of having paper towels exchange periodically). There are many ways the society pursues “Going Green” such as going paperless, carpooling, and using solar panels. “Going Green” affects human behavior because it involves technological advancement, sometimes resulting in job loss.
There is a very solid reason for selecting green technology as compared to the other technologies available because there is a very limited amount of natural resources like coal, petroleum available to man kind and these are getting depleted at an alarming rate. Moreover, green technology is turning out to be a good business these days as the market for greener products is increasing day by day. Consumers know that green products reduce their energy bills and these are always safer and healthier products to use, explains [1].
IBM run operations which could potentially impact the environment heavily in a number of ways. Chemicals utilized for research, development, manufacturing processes and services has to be properly managed, from purchase through storage, use and disposal. Certain processes are energy and/or water-intensive. In addition, IBM products have to be thoughtfully
Green architecture is an approach to building which has become more popular in the last 25 to 30 years. Also known as sustainable design, green architecture is a method of design that minimizes the impact of building on the environment. Once thought of as unconventional and nonstandard, both regulatory agencies and the public alike are quickly accepting green architecture as a socially responsible and logical means of construction.
The concept of “going green” is a necessity for the future because “our children deserve cities as beautiful as they are”. Works Cited Russell, Lauren. A. Web. " An Evaluation of Municipal Recycling Programs."
