What makes a good speech? Most would say the speaker themselves, but it actually comes down to something smaller… writing methods. Too make a good speech, it is important to have argument enhancing methods included in your writing in order to actually make a statement after you speech is given. It is especially important when it comes to bigger speeches like presidential speeches. Martin Luther King, William J. Clinton, and George W. Bush. All are creators of great speeches, and all use a plethora of methods in those speeches. Out of the three speeches, all of them used repetition, which is a very common, and effective method used in many speeches to this day. Out of the three speeches given a few years ago, which one actually used repetition to its full potential? In the year of 1963, speaker Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave a speech that changed the world. In his speech he included methods like figurative language, personal stories, claims, counterclaims, repetition, and much more. Kings speech is called “I have a dream” which is actually one of his very famous ways of using repetition. Martin Luther King used it to make his ideas clear, William J. Clinton used it to go into depth on his topic, and George W. Bush used it as a way of explaining something to his audience. Out of the three, Martin Luther King used it to the best of its possibilities, for the situation he was in, and what his goal was. Some people may think different on my choice of person. Maybe some may say Bush’s use of repetition was better than Kings. The only reason that Kings speech would fall ahead of Bush’s speech would be because King simply used way more examples of repetition, and King used the method as a way of really putting a word out their which was vital for his speech, because it meant peoples
