At times it may have been extremely difficult for some of us to predict where we would be today, but now we can embark upon our goals and congratulate ourselves for always striving to conquer our missions. No longer do we need to reminisce about what we were unable to accomplish - for we have accomplished the first step in our education.
Sugar Lake High School is not an ordinary high school. When you step onto the campus the atmosphere of open-mindedness and kindness is overwhelming. Every senior has a struggle or story that brought him or her to Sugar . Being able to interact with your peers and knowing that your fellow seniors are willing to open their heart to you is what has bonded the unique class of 2006 together. Personally, if it wasn't for the sincere relationships I was able to create and open upon my Sugar senior friends I may not be standing here today. For their overwhelming support and love I thank them all.
Though we all probably have our so-called teacher horror stories, in our hearts we know that without Sugar's dedicated staff we would have been left in the dust. What makes Sugar's staff so sincere is its ability to gain relationships with its students. How many teachers are willing to call you before class to make sure you are awake or well, are willing to contract other work with you in order for you to graduate, purchases coffee and snacks for their students just because they are there early in the morning, and will allow for you to openly speak your mind without being hesitant to listen - these teachers can only be found at Sugar!
Although the staff at Sugar has been major contributors to our educational, physical, and emotional developments, our parents were also major influences on our lives. We all owe our drive for success and our abilities to overcome struggles to our parents.
In "Surprised By Joy," C.S. Lewis tells of a mistake that he had observed regarding joy or what he calls "thrills." Lewis realized that what he had first thought to be joy, was actually not joy at all because it began to fade away. He had assumed that he was seeking after the "thrill" itself. He says, "And there lies the deadly error. Only when your whole attention and desire are fixed on something else ... does the 'thrill' arise. It is a by-product. Its very existence presupposes that you desire not it but something other and outer."
Wow! 12 years of hard work, 12 years of perseverance, 12 years of dedication! A great king once said, "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel." We each have mentors in our life who give us this counsel. What we choose to do with it determines if we are considered foolish or wise. Naturally, we tend to think we are always right, and even on the occasions when we are right, there is always something to learn from a second opinion.
This speech is bigger than me... bigger than this graduating class... and the world surrounding us. It is an epiphany. This speech is for the little guy, the middle man and the guy who is always behind the scenes... For the past four years, we have seen stories, read newspaper articles, and have heard announcements about our star athletes, scholars and over achievers.
When I think of the United States Flag I feel honored. Everyday in the morning after the school bell rings I place my hand upon my heart, and say the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Everyday I am reminded of the appreciation I have for my country. The flag represents all the veterans who fought for our country. When I look at the flag the white stars on the sky of blue represent the past veterans who served our country, the red stripes represent the bloodshed of the fallen soldiers who died protecting our country, and the white stripes signifies innocence and purity.
Horn Lake Intermediate School’s Principal Rosie King begins her first day of the new school year with a vision in mind. Her vision is to improve student learning regardless of students’ social economic statuses, free or reduced lunch rates, and previous years’ state assessments. The school’s motto is “We teach with Hope, Love, and Integrity.” Mrs. King is determined to grow every student through high expectations and rigid work.
Wow, three years have passed and the last day is just as long as the first. Three years of hard discipline and learning to get used to homework every night. Three years of standing on the front steps waiting for my parents and saying goodbye to my teachers. I never thought the goodbye might be permanent. 6th grade came and I was looking up at those giant 8th graders, and now I guess I’m one of them. 6th grade, and I was saying hello, and now 8th grade has come and it’s gone from introductions to goodbyes as my last days as a middle school student wind down.
Graduation is an exciting time in a person’s life, especially a high school graduation. When I think of family and friends gathering together to celebrate a joyous occasion, I feel I accomplished my strongest goal. It never occurred to me that graduation would be the end of my youth and the start of adulthood. Graduating from high school was an influential event that gave me an altered outlook on my existence. Life before graduation, preparing for graduation day, and commencement day overwhelmed me for reality.
Being Marefat's first graduating class to complete all four years, one can say we've acquired a higher level of school wisdom than any previous class. We've formed traditions, we've set records, and we've made a lot of friends along the way. I remember our freshman year when we could use the excuse of being a new school for every shortcoming we encountered. I remember our sophomore year, the last time I cleaned my bedroom, when Marefat had its first senior class, and the school seemed to shrink for some reason. Last year we were the juniors, and we conquered the SAT tests: And made it through those busy days where you hadn't quite found room in your schedule to pencil in a bathroom break, dinner or sleep. Well, this year we were the kings and queens, there was Star Wars, Starbucks, and a certain football team lost its winning streak to the mighty Knights. Looking back we can see our accomplishments and the marks we made. Now, we must take all that we have learned in our years at Marefat and apply it to our future. Just as we have set traditions here, we must enter the world ready to tackle new problems and work out new solutions. We are the ones who can break all of those records that have been set, and have our names etched in history. It's our turn -- the world is ours and we just have to decide what we want to do with it.
Being a freshman student in college is fun. In contrast to high school, wherever your initial year is typically crammed with anxiety and therefore the occasional wrong classroom setbacks, faculties prepare freshman students with associate orientation that builds a powerful bond among category members. Several faculties supply further early orientation programs to foster relationships before the college year even begins. Attend as several orientations choices as attainable. It’ll build your faculty transition easier if you have already got bonds along with your classmates. Once orientation is over and therefore the upper-class student’s square measure back on field, you will notice that they are excited to satisfy the freshman students, and you become terribly comfy within the faculty setting terribly quickly.
A long time ago in what seems like another lifetime, we were once little children watching the blinking TV while we sat eating Mac and Cheese without a care in the world. So much time has passed since then, how quickly time flies. Now, instead of walking to the bus for our first day of kindergarten, we are walking across this stage for our diplomas - I think everyone will agree that it's all about time.
For the past 13 years of our education we have been on a journey - a journey full of experiences, challenges and accomplishments. We have made it through elementary, middle and high school. It hasn't always been what we expected and certainly not easy, but as we progressed down the road, we stretched ourselves to reach across barriers and found ourselves in new and expanding roles. We were given the opportunity to explore our interests and discover what really excites us. We have become more independent and complete individuals. Our growth and self-discovery has placed us here tonight.

Good evening my name is Ben Rood I would like to share with you something that Michael Konda once said: "The fastest way to succeed is to look as if you're playing by somebody else's rules, while quietly playing by your own."
Hi, my name is Pat and I would like to start today by thanking the seniors of 2012 for choosing me to speak today. It is truly my honor.
To begin something new, you must sacrifice something old. To enter the real world, you must graduate your childhood.
