Are charter schools really better than public schools? Are they the answer to solving the educational void in this generation and future generations to come? The answer is no to both questions. The main point of charter schools are to create more educational benefits for those who have either struggled or didn't think public schooling was sufficient enough for them. The problem with that is in fact; they aren't performing better than public schools, loosely regulated, and the theory that charters create competition isn't completely true. Charter schools are not the way to go about fixing the school systems. They create more harm than success.
Number one rule in the book is “go to class always.” Many students used to go to school because their parents force them to. However, in college, students have the choice to attend the class or not. Some courses don’t have attending policy, so they won’t count students who where absent. This makes student feel more freely to whether attend class or not. Students usually skip classes because they pretend that they are tired or they want to go to a shopping mall. It is very easy to skip a class and give excuses, such as I was in the hospital, I made an accident, or I need to study for a final exam. After skipping a class, students go and take notes from other students who attended and class and copy them. However, this will affect them in their exams because they won’t get high grade as students who attend classes.
When students fail to hand in assignments or when a child acts up in class, lots say it both as a way of punishing for bad behavior or as a way to carry out a few extra minutes of learning time in a packed day.
In a homework assignment i did for intro to law i had to ask a student what rule they wanted to change and a lot of students overheard about 15 and said the tardy policy because it takes away from are learning.This tardy Policy affects everyone. Some students that know that they will be late rather not show up because they rather not get the 30 min detention. As a student many classmates have done this , they like school but they don't want to serve a detention during or after school. Teachers are instructed to close the doors as soon as the bells ring and if you don't make it on time that's your “fault” , then what happens is you'll just stay outside of class waiting till the staff pass by to sweep you up and take you to your
In school we are always taught about the lighter parts of Canadian History, but only until recently have Canadian students been taught about the darker parts of our history. Residential Schools were included in these dark parts of Canada’s history. In the 19th century, the Canadian government believed that Residential Schools were responsible for educating and caring for the country’s aboriginal people. Many people believe that school is not made for everyone, yet this statement is false. In fact, school is made for everyone since there are numerous programs and institutions around the world to help young adults strive for their dreams. The number of high school drop outs needs to start decreasing since young adults will receive a high paying job if they would receive a degree at a university, will not end up in jail, and be able to start a family with little to no struggles.
Are teachers enforcing discipline mechanisms in a healthy way for children? Researchers would answer no to this question because of one major factor: removing recess from a child’s school day. In Jessica Lahey’s article, “Students Who Lose Recess Are the Ones Who Need It Most”, she states that “schools continue to take away recess privileges as a penalty for academic or behavioral transgressions”. Many teachers follow this procedure because they assume that they are teaching the child how to act with appropriate behaviors. However, it is a proven fact that eliminating a student’s recess results in a negative outcome. Children are important because they are the future of a country. So, education for children is necessary and compulsory education can make sure most of children can be educated. In the past, Chinese didn’t have enough money to execute compulsory education. After doing much effort, compulsory education was executed in 1986. The compulsory education system causes many effect and issues.
There are mental health stigmas everywhere. They pressure us into hiding our disorders and flaws so that no one sees them. Mental health is usually brushed under the rug in public schools, or any schools in general. Mental illnesses are very serious but they’re also an uncomfortable subject, which is why most schools don’t include them in their curriculum. I personally think that schools should talk about them more so children and adolescents don’t feel ashamed of how their brains work.
It may seem impossible to juggle many things in life at one time; such as trying to get all the assignments completed, and studying done in a short amount of time to make it to work on time. If that was not stressful enough there is also the pressure of making sure to spend time with family. While studying or even registering for a class presents a challenge to some college students, the greatest obstacle remains, going to class. Attending college is supposed to signify a new found freedom to make many important choices regarding education without high school mandatory attendance policies. However, students everywhere are coming to the staggering realization that college is not too different from high school. Teachers still take class roll and students are still expected to be at every class on time. What next, hall monitors in the hall? The time has come for action to be taken. Colleges must abolish mandatory student attendance policies for several reasons to be further discussed.
Every year people are flunking out of high school and college. But what causes a person to do that, they either miss too many days, couldn’t make the grades, or just didn’t want to go anymore.
