Coming to school every morning and watching teachers getting prepared for the class showed how dedicated they were towards their work. It showed how seriously they were taking the responsibility of educating all the students out there. I had a great support from all my teachers in this school; they were so enthusiastic about their teaching career that they influenced me to become a teacher as well. Looking at the amount of hard work they had put showed me how dedicated they were towards their students. I was not able to focus on my studies no matter how hard I tried. There came a point where my mother had a talk with all my teachers individually and share what was going on in my life and why I wasn’t able to focus in school. I was surprised to see how all my teachers cared for me so much that they assured my mother about me having a bright future. Later all my teachers used to take out their free time for me to help me out and work together with me till the time I needed them. Instead of them getting frustrated with me, they put all their time figuring out the ways to help me. I remember the time when I used to go to school early so that I can get help on homework before school started, few of my teachers also helped me during lunch and also stayed back after school if I had any questions regarding what I had learned that day. With the support from all my teachers and my mother, I wasn’t finally getting back on track and my confidence was back once again. The city school used to hold annual function at the end of every school year, where students made presentations, danced, played educational games, and have all kinds of educational competition from one another. This was one of the ways where they brought out inner confidence from all the student so that they would be able to present their skills in front of others without any hesitation. The city school was a great experience and I learned a lot from all my teachers and friends who helped me out throughout all the school
I am an African American female who attends the University of Chicago Charter School, which is located on the South side of Chicago. I am seventeen years old and I live and attend school in a predominantly Black neighborhood. I have seen plenty in my seventeen years of living. My goal is to go to college and become a teacher, so that I can return to Chicago and help the people in my community. In six years, I will be giving back to the community and helping the world become better place. I will help teach kids not to live in stereotypes and let them bring them down.
This paper is a reflection of our group study on how the change frame of teachers learning impacted the new initiative of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) introduced in a secondary school as part of its “ICT Master-Plan 3” (MP3). This reflection shows that the findings from the interview conducted, in conjunction with literature review, have challenged and changed my assumptions on teachers learning and provided many insights into how teachers learning could be effective in schools. I have learnt that teachers learning as a change frame could not be understood as a simple instrumental and mechanistic tool but as a complex dynamic and organic construct that could not be effective without the necessary conditions and structure, and positive interactions with other change frames.
Teaching has always been an honorable and valued profession. With teaching you instill the knowledge and values that the student will take with them throughout life. I have volunteered at the elementary school with my children and have enjoyed watching the encouragement and nurturing of these teachers towards their students. I felt that I have the ability to nurture and share in the wonderment of the knowledge that prevails around us. To achieve this goal I will strive to give these students the understanding, love, and confidence that they need to prepare them for their journey in life.
I spent the whole night reading about the differences teachers make on student’s lives and how their hard work pays off in the eyes and minds of their students. The more I divulged in the books, the more I pictured myself leading the future of our community. From that day on, I was determined that teaching was going to be how I was going to spend the rest of life. I never knew that all I needed was for someone to see something in me as a student to affect my whole future and how I can possibly have that effect on future generations.
Being a teacher is a profession that I always have adored and admired because teachers were like the second mothers that I interacted with for 180 days out of the year. When I was a little kid, while other kids were playing house and doctor, I was creating a classroom filled with my own ideas and concepts. I would create my own rules and expectations for the students (stuffed animals) that set foot in my classroom. As I grew older, I found myself teaching my peers information that they didn’t understand in elementary and middle school. Consequently, my love for the teaching profession began to steadily flourish as I progressed through school. Being in school was a defining moment of my life because teachers were guiding and providing me with the knowledge that I would need to succeed in the outside world. “As a teacher, you have in your hands the power to influence and mould a student's mind. You have within you the capacity to instill in the child a love for learning, to keep an open mind and to keep questioning. You have the ability to promote confidence, stir thinking and awaken dreams...” (unknown). Education has been a huge part of my life, my mother started teaching when I was three years old she always said, “Justan when you grow up you should teach, your super smart and very creative.” In addition, like many other students have been in school for the majority of my life. My philosophy of education is to be a life changer. I want to touch a student’s life and leave a good positive imprint on their views of education. Teachers are more than educators they are mentors, class managers, role models, and learners. Effective teachers are learners they learn about their students, they learn how to differentiate their classrooms based on what they know about the students, and they stay up to date on the current educational technology.

Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
My interest in teaching started at a young age. I used to watch my teachers in awe as they were able to find new ways to get their students involved and excited to learn. Their enthusiasm to teach was so inspiring. I would often find myself using that same fervor as I grasped each concept. I, then, was able to relay it to my fellow classmates as a peer tutor. To this day, becoming a teacher is a passion that flows through me. However, my enthusiasm and passion are not the only reasons I would be a good teacher. I aspire to see a student’s ability to grasp the knowledge they never before understood. I aspire to see a student succeed at something they never thought they ever could. I aspire to not only support students with academic skills, but also with life lessons about the value of community, pride in one’s own ethnicity, good citizenship, sportsmanship, and more. Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.

As an educator, there is always room for reflection and growth. Being in this class has provided an opportunity for both. From my knowledge gained in this class I believe that I have become smarter and have learned how to implement different tool into my teaching as well as general life as a teacher. Of the topics discussed in this class, commitment to students, avoiding burnout and reflective practices had the biggest impact on my professional growth.
His eyes seemed to appear as if a thin gloss covered them and thick deep black circles engraved his skin below. His facial expressions displayed emotions from curiosity to worry. He walked in with both parents clutching his hands and an interpreter followed the young Chinese couple. Neither he nor his parents spoke one word of English; the only person to help cross the language barrier was the so called interpreter, who turned out to be little help in the future. In the midst of trying to communicate with the parents through the use of the interpreter we gathered little information about our new student. We did however conclude that two days ago the family boarded a plane in a small town in a rural area of China and endured a 13 hour flight to come to Houston, Texas. The way the innocent young Chinese family appeared, I could tell they were still adjusting to the time difference. Their reason for leaving their home remained up in the air. The interpreter however became helpful in giving the basic information of our student’s name. Recognizing that any normal American’s tongue would become entangled with each syllable of his real Chinese name, his parents decided to define our new student as George. During the rest of my internship, it would be my obligation to teach George the basics of English grammar and to try to immerse him into the United States culture, without knowing that he would significantly change my outlook on teaching completely.
This week has been one of the most educational week of the summer. I strongly believe that receiving information on the positions we hope to obtain and heeding to the expectations from professionals who are seeking employees to work in their campus, is imperative information that prospecting teachers and administrators essentially need.
