The first few months in our new building have been an amazing experience for us all. We’ve experienced many “firsts” since our move in May. We celebrated our first Thanksgiving in our new Community Center and felt grateful not only for the wonderful food and community, but also for the spacious and light-filled Dining Hall in which we gathered. In December, we distributed toys and gifts to over 500 children and parents in and were able to manage the entire process without borrowing space from a partner agency. We also welcomed in the New Year in this beautifully serene building, setting the stage for what we hope will be a bright and positive 2017. Through the entire essay the author, Russ Rymer inputs his own judgement into the essay expressing how they were making this town called Celebration out to be the best place on earth to live. He stated how Joel and Marlene spelled out the conceptual “cornerstones” of Celebration for him (Rymer 297). They made this community sound like it was going to be the best community and that everyone will come from all over the world to see this little community they had made. They made it sound out to be the ideal community where children can go play without any worries and “where playtime doesn’t end till mama called you in” (Rymer 298). As Rymer has stated, Celebration’s temporal compass was pointed to the past. In this community every house had to follow a set style pattern set forth by Disney known as the “Celebration Pattern Book” (Rymer 300). This pattern book dictates what every house needs to look like on the outside. As Rymer put it this book militates against a multitude of sins- moral and venial- to which modern builder are prone. All houses had to be built according to this book to be a part of the Celebration
I was originally going to complete my service learning project at Kitchen for the Poor, located at 650 Vance St in Toledo, Ohio. But in view of my capacity to volunteer because of my work hours, I had to pick an alternate administration to partake in. Instead, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Momee’s Daycare. Momee’s Daycare is owned and operated by Renee Bowen, and her location is at 756 Wenz Rd. in Toledo, Ohio. Her company has five employees, situated in the proprietor’s home.

If you we're in the Niles area last December, you might have heard singing coming from a nearby house just off from Fifth Street in Niles. It wasn't Christmas Carolers spreading Holiday joy to the neighborhood, it was the many great individuals welcoming a new home owner to their newly built house. Christmas came early for a lucky Niles area family as Habitat for Humanity completed another build to someone whom had thought that home ownership was only a dream.
My favorite time of the year is the fall. There’s something about the scattering leaves and the chilly, crisp smelling nights going home after a long rehearsal. This time of the year also happens to include one of my favorite holidays to celebrate, thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a great day to remind yourself of all the things in your life for which you are thankful, from small things like your favorite song or a gift someone gave to you, to more influential things in your life like the people that you care about or a hobby that you may be interested to take up as a career when you are older. There I was, standing in the midst of all my stuffed animals, and I thought to myself, why not donate several of these to the fire department for children who have lost every possession they own to fire? When I was six, my mom told my sister and me that we had too many stuffed animals, and that we had go give quite a few of them away. Right away, I thought about donating them to the fire department to give comfort to children who had lost their homes. Giving is an essential element of life, and to give beloved stuffed animals away is tough, but the reward is marvelous.

Today is our first day of being the leaders, doers, and problem solvers of the future. Those who persevere, who give it their all and approach each day with optimism will ultimately meet success and happiness. Of course, there will be many a failure on that windy road of life, but with dedication, we can do anything and make any dream come true. But, as we grow older and encounter success, we must not forget those who have had it rough, whose lives may have hit some potholes on the way, and we must take care of those who need a helping hand. As each of us leaves our mark on the world, be generous and be happy, and always remember the good times, good friends, and lessons learned at Marefat.
The trip opened my eyes and I was grateful for the opportunity to share what God had given to me. Another task we had the privilege of helping them with was building a new chicken coop. We built a new roof and cleaned it up so that the chickens wouldn’t get too hot. The tricky part was communicating that we built exactly what they wanted. Therefore, I was there to both help construct, but also help get communication between us and the owners under control.
In the early summer mornings, when the sunshine is young and playful, inside the church another realm is born. Sitting in the back rows one can see a heavenly mist flowing though the windows and filling the sleepy altar with life and hope. It is a different dimension in the breast of an unsuspecting world. Moments such as these bring you joy and reassurance and also show you that there really is someone out there: your soul is elevated, your mind is thirsty for new experiences and your body is strengthened.
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Sitting in the backseat of the car, I used to bombard my family with these questions. On our summer road trips I was so anxious for the destination that I failed to appreciate the journey. However, as time passed and I grew older, I realized that it was the journey that was important and not the destination.
