At college, I’m considering to concentrate in economics and mathematics. I realized the key role economics play in our daily lives and I began to channel my interests to understanding economics even more. I’m interested in examining topics of obvious importance to human well-being, since I would like to be valuable to others.
However, the classes I am going to take will not be limited to only these areas. I would like to explore other subjects as well. I don’t want to lose sight of all the other things that will make me a well-rounded individual. Hence, I want to study at a renowned liberal arts university.

During high school I would often volunteer to teach English to children aged 12-14 years old. I was also involved in study clubs and held leadership position in organizations. I am very grateful for these experiences, as it made me realize how much I can learn from interacting with other people.
At UCM, I will encounter a vibrant academic communities, I will experience a certain degree of collaborative learning and social activities. I will be challenged both in and beyond the classroom. I was born into a traditional Hispanic family in Puerto Rico, a territory of the United States. This conventional family pattern follows a patriarchal hierarchy in which the father is the head of the household and responsible for all major decisions for the family.

I have a great, high-paying job, and beautiful wife and family, and a nice sports car parked in front of my lovely house. When I look into the future, I see myself being successful and happy. Throughout someone’s time in university, undergraduate students do not only grow academically, but they also learn many other valuable skills which will benefit them throughout life. When students are able to learn using a practical and hands on experience, their learning can extended beyond the classroom. Having hands on experiences can benefit the student academically by teaching concepts and ideas in a new way. Academics is not the only type of learning that can be enhanced with practical learning as undergraduate students will also learn life skills that are not always taught in the classroom. While at university, undergraduates should also be involved in their community.
With a liberal arts curriculum based on a diverse variety of classes, as well as strong options to dual major, I know that it is right for someone like me. Outside of class, I hope to become involved with a variety of clubs such as the chemistry club, CWMEA, and the pep band that will hopefully sustain my main interests, let me explore other interests, and share those interests with others. Along with joining clubs, I hope to possibly start a club focusing on on-line video and using the medium for entertainment, education, and awareness of various issues.
