Government Budgets on Inflation

?Since Greece and Italy are in the European Union and have both joined the European Monetary Union, one might think that they would have fairly stable economies, and Turkey would be the unstable one of the three.? But that is not necessarily true.? Although Turkey does have more of an unsteady economy, Italy and Greece?s were not doing so well in the recent past.? Looking at each country separately then comparing the three is the best way to see how the government budgets affect the inflation rates of Greece, Italy and Turkey.?
Greece
Greece joined the European Union (EU) in 1981, but that did not solve all of its internal problems.? They still had a high inflation rate through the 1980s and into the early 90s.? ?The average annual rate of price inflation was 17.4% in 1984-93.?[1]? There were many reasons for this elevated rate, like the public sector dominating the economy, the informal Greek economy, and the weak political leadership, but Greece knew they had to lower their inflation rate to join the European Monetary Union (EMU) and in turn converting their currency over to euros.
In 1994, the EU along with Greece?s ruling government PASOK (Panellinion Socialistikon Kinima) set goals for Greece?s journey towards entering the EMU.? Along with many other objectives, the inflation rate had to be lowered before entering in to the monetary union.? Greece reduced it public spending, restricted the public sector wage increases, and attempted to increase their budget revenues by setting a minimum level of income tax payable by all employees.[2]? By doing these things, ?in April of 1995 the annual rate of inflation was less than 10% for the first time since 1973.?[3]? Also during this time of gradual progress to lower the inflation rate, the gross domestic product (GDP) rose.? The economy grew by an average of 2.8 percent per year between 1994 and 1999 and there was a recorded real growth in GDP of 4.1% in 2000.[4]By the middle of 2000, Greece?s inflation rate had reached a stable level at 2.0%, which was the requirement for entry into the EMU.
?In January [2001] Greece became the twelfth member of the European Monetary Union after a sustained effort to reduce inflation and the budget deficit to levels required for adopting the Euro.
Ragged Dick wasn’t just a good example of an American dream coming true. It is also pretty much a guideline on what you need to do or have in order to make an American dream possible. It clearly lays out how Dick’s character and moral values play a huge role in his rise to bigger and better things. Work ethic and your desire for better things is always necessary. There are six major things that are pointed put in the book.

It may not be politically correct and improperly depict pop culture events; nevertheless Family Guy is a valuable source for comedy and entertainment. Though it holds a top two ranking for all animated shows, it is often criticized and could be shut down once again. Until then, we should enjoy the freedom of speech which grants them the right to broadcast the comical satire and continue to express many of Americans societal problems to the world. As viewers we can enjoy the comedy by accepting one simple fact, all Family Guy is putting a mirror in front of our society and having us look into it, it shows discrimination and stereotypes, but in no way does it condone either. Family Guy is America’s comedy.
Family Guy, an animated sitcom about a New England family and their everyday dilemmas, is a way for viewers to see the comedic side of a dysfunctional family. The Griffins consist of Peter and Lois, the patriarch and matriarch, and Meg, Chris, and Stewie are the children(Family Guy). Every character is different from the next character. They are also weird in their own way. The television show itself displays feminism, structuralism, and gay and lesbian criticism. Each character in the show also displays those criticisms in a certain fashion. Family Guy can be offensive to viewers with its satire, and the way the show delivers its message can make the family and the other characters in the show seem dysfunctional.

Americans live in a consumer society where majority of products are packaged ready for use. This is attributed to the availability of disposable merchandise that is favorable and efficient in delivering the various products that are on demand. Among the various favorably consumed packed products is bottled water. It does not however, make sense for people to buy bottled water and throw the container away after they have emptied it. This is because the plastic bottles have a number of defects to the environment as well as to the general welfare of the economy. For example, in 1976 an average American drank 1.6 gallons of bottled water and since then the quantity has increased to an average of 30 gallons whereby a lot of resources are spent importing synthetic fiber in spite of the pollution plastic cans have caused to the environment (Didier 214). The move has had an alarming statistic because some of the chemicals that are contained in the plastic water bottles have been recently proven to be harmful for the human consumption. The two types of chemicals that are particularly harmful are phthalates and biphenyl-A which are used to make the plastic bottles flexible. The use and manufacturing of plastic water bottles has negative consequences for humanity because it has health risks, is damaging to the environment, and is a waste of fossil fuels. Furthermore, there are other more feasible alternatives to bottled water.
society in a mocking and sometimes intolerant way” (305). It isn’t always about being kind and saying the right things. Often we learn from our mistakes and can only improve when we see wrongdoing. As much as I personally strive to be kind to people of all races, religion, backgrounds, etc, I am just as guilty as the next when it comes to being uninformed about others beliefs. Self-improvement comes in all forms, even learning right from wrong through an annoying talking dog. Should parents really worry more about what their adolescent children learn from a sitcom than that of verbal abuse heard during a presidential election? Granted, “sometimes the creators (Seth MacFarlane) do seem to cross…the line of indecency” (308), however, it is also the sheer responsibility of the viewer to interpret and establish their own level of

The recent global financial crisis that affected not only America but also Europe and other parts of the world resulted in massive unemployment. This is due to the high costs of operation that many corporations faced forcing them to cut on labor costs. There is need for European government interventions to avert this social crisis and prevent the occurrence of such a crisis in future. Unemployment has hit the service sector harder than other sectors with the following being the most affected: automotive, construction, tourism, finance and real estate. The global financial crisis has also increased consumer prices thus pushing inflation. According to McCathie, “the increase in July consumer prices to 1.7 per cent pushed inflation in the currency bloc up towards the European Central Bank’s target of keeping inflation at below, but close to 2 per cent. Eurozone consumer prices had stood at 1.4 per cent in June” (McCathie, 2010).
Greece has emerged as one of the fastest growing economies in the EU since the mid-1990s when it has recorded strong GDP growth, significantly outperforming EU averages. Greece was one of the fastest growing countries in the Eurozone with an annual growth rate of 4.3 % from about 2000 to 2007 compared to Eurozone average of 3.1...
As in other centrally planned economies, most consumer prices in Romania were fixed before the 1989 revolution. However, with the liberalization of economic policy dramatic changes occurred and high inflation was, and still is, expected to remain one of Romania¡¦s key short-term economic concerns.
The cost involved in water bottles is inconceivable to many. Bottled water costs 240 to 100,000 times more than tap water, which can be brought to your house for just pennies per day; based on city water usage, 4,787 bottled waters could be filled with tap water for $2.10, if each bottled water costs one dollar, you would pay 2,279 times more than if a single bottle is refilled. If tap water cost as much as bottled water, a monthly water bill would be around nine thousand dollars. By virtue of this, society is unaware of the fact that by replacing water bottles with tap water, many countries with economical dilemmas could be less strained.

Water is one of the most essential non-renewable natural resources on the Earth. Technically, an un-hydrated human being can live no more than three days. In the United States, people consume water mainly from tap water and bottle water. However, the consumption between these two sources is not even but lean to one side heavily. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, people consume from 240 to over 10000 times more per gallon for bottled water than they usually do for tap water. (NRDC) In addition, according to a survey from US National Library of Medicines, only 17% of the participants prefer to drink tap water exclusively.(US National Library) Compared to the bottled water which is shining like a superstar, tap water is like a diligent worker in the shade, unpopular but useful. The extremely unbalance of bottled water consumption implies that a commonly hold conception exists: bottle water is superior to tap water. In fact, scientific evidence proves that tap water is nothing different than bottle water. More importantly, the excessive consumption of bottled water is an irrational use of resources and creates severe environmental issues.
