In today, we can see video in yutube, we can search way to go somewhere by using google map, and also we can send a mail by g-mail in our smart phone. What’s common thing in those things? Yes, they are related to google, the one of the most famous search engine in the world. There are many other things that google can provide with to us. How can google provide such many things? The answer is bigdata. Google have so much data because they are one of the most famous search engine. And they also have technology that can analyze complex data such as video , contents in text. By those things, google could go first in bigdata innovation. At first, google’s service such as free maps, buying yutube was seen as useless things to make money. however, as google can use datas on those things, those useless things are the important points in bigdata innovation. From now on, we see how google use that datas so interestingly., and practically, and how they improve their data platform and also they make people utilize big data by their ‘big query’. And what we can learn about from their innovative activity in bigdata era.
Google do a lot of interesting projects using bigdata to change lifes of people One of the most interesting things that google use bigdata is ‘google translate’. In past, there were many trying to make high quality machine translator. In 1990s, ‘Candide project’ done by IBM failed as they use so small data that can be said ‘million’ and only use neat text data. However, from 2003 to today, google’s translate project have colleted so much data that can’t be said even by ‘billion’ in their web environment. By that much data, ‘google translate’ even translate language over one hundred, and also translate language in voice. th...

...ue from the things seen as meaningless. As students of liberal arts, we should see the other possibility in objects. Google catch innovative possibility from just flying datas. Then, once seeing the possibility, we should be able to invest our efforts to those possibility. Although in now those things is useless, and we don’t know what we are doing, we should do our efforts to the possibilities, and find meaning in the act and find the answer continuously.
Those attitude is needed to live in bigdata era as we find meaning and act on that datas. In our life, we have to focus on that attitude as that attitude can teach us many things and the meaning in our own is more important than just failure or success. The big data era is coming, maybe the message in the mega trend is to find meaning in seemingly meaningless things, and do your own meaningful acts in your life.
Advancements in technology have strived to make life easier for so many people. In most cases, the advancements have achieved its goal, but in the article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” Nicholas Carr questions if the improvements in society have unintentionally hindered our thought process overall. Carr begins the article by providing personal instances when his concentration seemed to diminish due to the internet. He explains how he now loses interest when reading lengthy portions, his mind just can’t seem to remain connected to his readings. He then proceeds to talk about how today’s life is surrounded by the internet, and explains the pros and cons of it. The negative side of it is that his mind now wonders off when seeking information from
In the “rational approach” of knowing, knowledge is “not worth lingering over, meditating upon, remembering, and returning to” (Jardine, 2008, p. 1). In the previous paragraph, one example I brought up is the idea od research and I brought up a question of “why are we doing this”. I think teachers are using this kind of learning approach because it is efficient, saves time and easy to manage. In the article, Jardine emphasises the idea of whiling, which is taking time and making relations. However, whiling takes up too much time and it is less efficient. While pondering with this idea, I asked myself: why are we rushing learning? I think that teachers use rational approach because they were pressured by the government with a static set of curriculum standards. Ultimately, knowledge is political, never innocent and always has a purpose. I asked my self, what is the purpose of education in rational approach of education? By combing the previous readings and this article, I concluded that education is to achieve the final outcomes set by the society and to prepare the future work force (Bloch, Swadener, & Cannella, 2014). This way “measuring time” is about the accumulation of knowledge and measuring empty singularity (Jardine, 2008,

This essay will discuss Carole Cadwalladr’s “Singularity University: meet the people who are building our future” which it’s about the Singularity University. In her article Cadwalladr claims that people who are at this university will build humanity’s future. She believes that they will get rid of world problems such as poverty, hunger, and dryness. This University involve people from all around the world trying to solve different problems. However, Cadwalladr is incorrect for several reasons such as the way they use to solve these problems, and their aims to depend on artificial intelligence method for the best future later is totally false.
This has to do with Human ingenuity which shall be looked through and explained in this essay. According to the IB website, ”Human ingenuity allow students to focus on the evolution, process and products of human creativity and their impact on life and society. Human ingenuity provides opportunities for students to appreciate and develop in themselves the human capacity to create,

I want to suggest that the very ground on which Plato and many since have dismissed the humanities is in another view the basis for the enduring and vital importance of the humanities today. It is worth remembering that problem solving – the activity prized above all others at an institution such as MIT – is made possible only through the prior activity of problem making. Problem making begins with the recognition that there are questions that have yet to be asked, latent possibilities that remain unexplored. And this, ultimately, is where the humanities may have most to offer us. What may seem like the mere multiplication of “uncertainties” and “doubts” might equally serve as a conduit to new thoughts, fresh insights, and creative solutions.
Gadamer’s On the Natural Inclination of Human Beings Toward Philosophy follows an idea that a desire for knowledge, in researching philosophy and sciences, can be related to Plato's thaumazein, the idea of wonder. The specifically human function of thinking starts, not routinely or in merriment, but at "…a point where something strikes us as alien because it runs counter to habitual expectation." (Gadamer 143) The fascination and wonderment towards ideas Gadamer claims, "…comes to me above all in the face of the alien and the strange." (145). He is emphasizing that it is philosophy specifically, in the practice of thinking and understanding is susceptible by technology and contemporary society. "Self-knowledge alone is capable of saving a freedom threatened not only by all rulers but much more by the domination and dependence that issue from everything we control" (150). The evaluation of the importance and the inevitability of philosophy Gadamer explains in his analysis are correct and become more prevalent as society becomes more intertwined with technology and instant gratificatio...
First of all, where does the word “Google” come from? The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of "googol,” which refers to 10100, the number represented by a 1 followed by one hundred zeros. It found its way to the English language, now the verb "Google", was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2006, meaning, "to use the Google search engine to obtain information on the Internet." Their search engine was originally nicknamed "BackRub" because the system checked back links to estimate a site's importance. /// The start of Google was pretty much like the start of every website. It was a research project to these two Ph.D. Students where they hypothesized that a search engine that analyzed the relationships between websites would produce better ranking of results than existing techniques, which ranked results according to the number of times the search term appeared on a page. It was first related to the university’s domain, but then the traffic was so heavy that the university asked them to move their website to a domain outside the university. What made Google this popular was the speed it pulls out information, which is counted in parts of seconds. And also, the size of their data base, according to the instructor of our instructor in MIS class only 60% of data you found on Google are in other web search engines.

Political, economic, and technological are three factors of the external environment that Google must identify with doing an external analysis. Political factor can profit Googles growth through different markets. Chinese’s and US government placed an obstacle for any growth that Google had in these markets. According to Google 2009, “They viewed Google as a monopoly and request authority to monitor its activities. The pressure of the government provides additional problems with copyright and privacy issues. As the technology expands, it offers more problems for Google. “New...
I wonder why sometimes people are afraid of their intelligence. Don’t imagine your life without technology because the progression of technology will never stop, and it will continue to benefit us. As technology advances, our society is able to advance also. Instead of tangle with how technology causes laziness or distracts us from what is important, it would better to think about how to use technology to make our life better.
Adopting big data can also help the banking industry by saving them from lots of embarrassment resulting from increase in the number of customer which in turn requires banks to improve on their performance. As stated earlier banks are entrusted with lots of information and this information must be safe will be required to be accessed ready and in a timely fashion. The use a normal small database will not be enough to perform this operation and if banks don’t embrace the use of big data they might start to experience failure in there system.
