Goodyear has many suppliers that are from all over the globe. All of these suppliers play an important role in the supply chain for Goodyear. In 2009, Goodyear looked at its supply chain and R&D departments and decided they needed to keep their game up. They have been leaders in the tire industry for numerous years and they need to stay competitive and innovative to maintain that position. They called upon about 30 of their most innovative suppliers and formed a new relationship with them. They explained to them how they wanted to combine these challenges Goodyear faced and have them all work on these as a whole. Some of these suppliers include Kemai, Rhodia, ExxonMobile, Bekaert, DuPont, and Sumitomo Chemical.
Many of these suppliers did not know all that goes into the tire making procedure, they only made certain parts for the tires. During this meeting they learned all about the process and got a new perspective on Goodyear and how tires are made.
