My paper lacked focus and it seemed like with more points, I required more evidence to convince the reader of my stance. After time, some of my evidence sounded repetitive, as there could have been a possible overlap in points. Through this exploration, I have learnt that a thesis should be narrowed down and focused but yet complex enough, to be developed further with my supporting arguments later on. There must be a logical and clear rationale as to the stance I’m taking, which helps to defend my position from some readers, who may controvert. One rationale clause to use would be “because”.
Initially, I learned that I should never be okay with mediocre or just slightly above average, I should always strive to do better. It may not seem as important, but it was really eye opening to me. Another significant lesson I learned was how to properly give credit where it’s due, in other words how to correctly include cite my sources and how to include them in my essays. Lastly, one of the most important lessons I have learned in my opinion, is to play with my word choices. This is a great way to help me sound more interesting and sophisticated.
A good writer is able to bring up an idea that is not solved straight forward, and makes the reader think. An example of this could be a paradox. The rewards of good writing can be good, but unless the author has the skills necessarily to write well, nothing will amount. An author accomplishes good writi... ... middle of paper ... ... needed to make a text good is goals itself. The author should have an idea of what they want their writing to achieve, that way they will know if they succeeded or not.
My job is to determine what I want to do with the advice given to me. If I believe it is good, then I will put it to use, probably in the near future. If I don't agree with it, then I may disregard it totally. Another thing that constitutes good advice is that it should be honest. If I give someone advice that I wouldn't take, were I put in the same situation, then it most likely isn't good.
Someone else can dispute this and say no people determine their core values through living life and using them as a guide. Without a strong claim the entire paper will fall apart. This is why it is important to thank carefully on what the claim is going to be. It is important early on that the writer knows their audience. It would not be proper to write a formal paper
This essay taught me that even though I was learning a lot from this course, that there was still room to improve. Likewise, I ended up with the assumption I had done great on this essay since I wrote about a topic I enjoyed, makeup. I was proven wrong. The evaluation paper called for evaluating and expanding on the quotes you had provided in your paper, something I wasn’t as familiar with until this class. I didn 't do so well on this particular essay but I had the opportunity to learn from my mistakes.
I felt like I wasn’t able to form ideas or narrow down my topic, let alone write... ... middle of paper ... ...at previously, sometimes in the midst of a discussion, people forget that there are two sides of a story and not everyone has to agree to yours. What we learn from our books or our studies is not what is necessarily important. What we learn from our peers and our professors is what’s important. Learning is more than absorbing fact, it is acquiring understanding, and it is being passionate about the material you are given. Each piece that we have read in class, and each comment that we make impacts a person no matter how little it seems.
Starting this class I was a nervous wreck, but looking back now this class has really helped me out a lot, as a highschool student the essays that I do are not given feedbacks and with this class it has helped me because I get to know what I did wrong and what I need to work on with the feedbacks I received after every rough draft we do. This
Also, I need to consider their feedback and make changes, but keep my voice. I don’t want to get feedback and then I hear my mother’s voice through my writing, something would be very wrong. I still need to be original with my
This meant that I wasn’t able to complete it when I wanted to. I had to do it piece by piece when they each sent me their research. Another perk about my personality is that when I say I am going to do something I will get it done. I’ve learned that it may not be done when another person tells me to have it done by, but I know I will get it done when it needs to be done. I tend to take things very seriously, but also know how to have fun when the time is right.
