The End of the Rainforest

The rainforest is considered one of the most beautiful and lively places on earth, although it is also considered one of the most threatened. The rainforest is a part of the world that is full of all sorts of life, including over half of the world’s animals and plants. It is also home to numerous resources for humans such as a third of all of the world’s fresh water, food, and medications that people need in order to live. The reasons that people have about cutting down rainforests are outnumbered by the reasons of why not to. Rainforests are found all around tropical parts of the world such as Brazil, Central Africa, and Southeast Asia but their size is decreasing at a critical rate. In fact, for every second, about one and one half acres of rainforest land is lost. Scientists don’t even come close to knowing all of the secrets of the rainforest and some of this knowledge we are too late to ever know. What makes this problem worse is the fact that once the rainforest is gone, it is gone forever.

The problem that’s destroying the rainforest is people are cutting down the rainforest’s large exotic trees. Trees are what really make up the rainforest. These trees are being demolished by chainsaws, bulldozers, and even intentional fires. There is more than one reason for why these trees are being cut down. One of the biggest reasons is because of the timber value in exotic hardwoods found in the rainforest. Other things that the wood is used for are things such as paper, ply wood, and charcoal. Two thirds of all of the world’s plants are located in the rain forest. These trees provide homes and food to the animals as well as much of the world’s oxygen. When the trees in the rainforest are cut down, people...
