You are born gay; you can’t choose to be gay. Using the Bible as a reason is complete nonsense. God created everyone equal. There is a separation between Church and State, one should not clash another. If you're trying to legalize something, you can't use the Bible as an excuse.
It is a choice to commit an abomination. America's civil rights do not involve any rights that are incorrigible. “Legal recognition of same sex marriage would necessarily obscure certain basic moral values, devalue traditional marriage, and weaken public morality.” (TFP Students 1-2) The United States of America is in danger with legalizing same sex marriage because it destroys the path that Jesus has for those involved. Same sex marriage is not a natural event that could benefit the life of any gender. Marriage should be traditional as Jesus wants it to be.
Gay marriages are unacceptable in my opinion because it goes against God’s words. God’s word is the truth and no one can change it. Allowing gay marriage also puts churches at risk, because if pastors allow same sex marriage it makes them go against God’s word as well. Homosexuality is a sin and it is unacceptable to force gay marriage on people who do not believe in it. It is also an unnatural act because God created Adam and Eve, not Eve and Eve nor Adam and Steve.
According to Joe messerli in”should same sex marriage be legalized” (balancedpolitics.org) denying gay couples the right to marry is a violation of religious freedom. Civil and religious marriages are two separate institutions. The First Amendment in the bill of rights states that “ There shall be no law respecting an establishment of religion. Therefor denying homosexual citizens the right to get married is a violation of the United States Constitution. The reason to involve religion is because most of the negative feedback from gay marriage comes from religious groups. For the reason being passages of the Bible declaring homosexulity a sin and punishment for homosexual acts.
Fortunately, our country is not a theocracy and public policy should not be based on any religion's values. If a person's religious convictions cause them to believe that gay marriage is wrong, that is personal to them, and that viewpoint should not be thrust onto others. Another argument against gay marriage is that it is seen as destroying the family. Some hold that the family is an immutable institution, but we have seen that the concept of the family is fluid, not static. Divorce used to be illegal in this country, now about half of marriages end in divorce.
Homosexuals should be allowed to make a lifetime commitment to their partners, but it should be called something other than marriage and should not be under God. The biggest problem the gay population faces regarding legal marriage is the Christians. A true Christian doesn't want a married gay couple to have the same title as he and his wife have, because they take the vowel under god seriously. A firm believer would say that a gay marriage is absurd. Homosexuality goes against nature because we were given sexual organs for the purpose of reproduction, not for pleasure.
Just recently Newsweek magazine produced an article which attempted to make a scriptural argument in favor of homosexual marriage. Space would not allow for one to deal with all of the errors that the writer makes in regard to biblical text. If nothing else, it demonstrates the ignorance that many people have in understanding God’s word. It also shows how far people in the media have moved away from fairly and reasonably dealing with a biblical issue. Thus, the article is aimed at proving that conservatives are wrong in maintaining that biblical marriage is between a man and a woman.
How can denying two people of the same sex the right to have a marriage be considered constitutional? Why is our country taking away rights of people because they want to be with someone of the same gender? Gay and lesbian couples have been denied their right to marry for some time now. Same-sex couples should be allowed to express and celebrate their commitment to a partner the same way a heterosexual couple does, as well as obtain the same benefits. Our country is not a Theocracy, we have separation of church and state, therefore the government cannot press biblical or church will on citizens.
One cannot deny that one of the main justifications as to why gay marriage is presently unlawful is due to the religious understanding that homosexual individuals are sinners. The reason being is, when an individual violates the natural ethical order founded by God, that person sins and insults God. An individual who professes to follow the teachings of God must oppose to same sex marriage as it is considered unethical and immoral. In addition, gay marriage will consequently invade our right to freely exercise our religious freedoms. A pastor shouldn’t be obligated to marry a homosexual couple or a church shouldn’t be forced to be the site of a gay wedding.
If the United States was truly obedient to God as it should be then there would not be any laws passed allowing gay marriage or abortion. These go against the Bible, the word of God, but the Government has deemed them acceptable. This issue shows how obedience to authority can cripple a nation. The Government is allowing an issue they should never have considered to become recognized as acceptable. If this path continues, society will continue to crumble and decay.
