Goals are not only dreams but they are also a possible reality that is willing to come true. It will take time, dedication, and hard work but with a positive attitude it can be done. We can’t just expect everything to be handed to us without any work being done and I’m just starting to learn that. As a freshman at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, I’m studying Media Technology as a career major of which we just received. Along this fun yet educational experience, I’ve set some goals for myself not only in trade but certainly for academics as well. Now if you don’t know what a goal is, the definition is “the result or achievement toward which effected; aim. Accomplishment, and that’s how I plan on feeling in the end.
As I mentioned, at GNB Voc-Tech there are career majors; shops or trades and I am studying in Media Technology. We had this list of trades we had chosen to study in the order of place how we wanted our choices. I chose Media Technology without going through the shop and at first I was skeptical about it but now I think it was the best decision I could have made. In Media there is one small predicament that I see myself having challenges with, every detail has to be closely engaged and precise. Currently we are writing and working on Photoshop, which is very enjoyable. Coming out of the 3 ½ year program “Media Technology” I will be able to not only leave exploring my creativity but also I will be more than likely able to get into the real world of media on its own. The job options for this major are endless because it has to do with technology and technology is always changing. However, if I had to pick three possible opportunities of what I would want to do at this moment in time; I woul...

...Tech. It would be an honor to have at the least an 85 in every class, yes academics and shop as well. I would love for everyone to get that image of a stereotype blonde out of their heads when they look at me because quite frankly I am sick of it. I’m a dancer and my only goal for dance would to be to use my arms more and get my “Reverse Leap” down. I’m not sure what it is but I can’t get the concept from my head to my heart. I need to turn in the air not switch my feet last minute. Next year, I want to get into a couple of clubs to explore my horizons; magazine club and maybe even drama club. When I said “Goals are not only dreams but they are also a possible reality that is willing to come true,” Its reassurance to my goals and my life that everything I dream up as a goal can be done with time, and as impatient as I am I am well willing to wait, fail and try again.
Goals can help students even after school, “A student’s ability to set and achieve realistic goals is linked to higher grades, lower college-dropout rates, and greater well-being in adulthood” (Shellenbarger). It is directly stated that having goals is constructive and valuable to have as students. The key to success isn’t just setting goals; it’s having the motivation to achieve them.
I have known from a young age that I wanted to help people, and since then I have searched for the opportunity and knowledge to be able to do just that. On that note, seeing the joy on my uncle’s face, after losing both of his legs and having to learn to walk again with prosthesis’s was so uplifting for me, to witness him so happy even though I wasn’t involved with his healing process. Consequently, I could only imagine how good it would feel to know that I helped him regain his independence and return a smile to his face. That was when I realized that I wanted to give back to people that are in need of assistance. These individuals may not be able to do anything about the position they are in, Hence when I become an Occupational therapist; I will
The first goal consists of learning how to manage free time better and not getting too caught up in it. Back in high school, I barely had any free time and was that friend that could never meet up because I already had a prior commitment to soccer. For example, in 10th grade, after I was done with classes, I would have volunteer work for an hour, then volleyball practice, and then soccer practice. Being involved in so many time consuming extracurricular activities meant that I did not get home until after 10:30pm and could not start my homework since I would have to take a shower and eat dinner. Ever since I started attending Northeastern University, I have become less efficient in terms of time management. Never haven been used used to having so much free time after being done with class, I spent most of it wasting my time instead of working on assignments because I thought that I would have enough time to do it later. This eventually affected my sleeping schedule and taking three naps a day was customary. I still find myself following this same pattern during my second year and now that the teamwork workload has considerably increased, I cannot afford to take naps. Although my grades this semester have improved from the previous one, I
A goal of mine is to get accepted in to National Honors Society. I will reach this goal by getting all my work done and studying a lot. Something the board of NHS looks at when you apply is if you have a number of volunteer hours. I hope to get at least 70 before my junior year. In order to get 70, I will use my free time to help teachers or students get jobs done. Another goal would be valedictorian. If I can work hard on every assignment and study for every test to reach at least a 4.0 GPA, I know I will be one of the valedictorians. One last goal would be receiving at least 3 varsity letters from the sports I play. I can get 3 by being a leader on these
To start of my first goal is to graduate high school with a 3.5 GPA or higher. I plan on doing this by turning in all assignments on time and good quality work. My next goal is to graduate
My goals for myself is to go as far as I can in my educational
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Creating and achieving goals are some important things that people want to do in their lives and learn to accomplish or achieve them. The goals can be small, big, long, short, simple, complicated, hard, objective, career, life, educational, professional and it can be for anything such as health, job, work, you, the people that are around you, friends, family, the world, history, culture and advocacy. In order to accomplish or achieve these goals, you need to have a lot of time, effort, proficiency, patience and perseverance. Goals are the ones to be proud of because we are accomplishing them every day you just do not realize it.
My life experiences thus far bring the best of both worlds to my education and career goals; a student coupled with a variety of life experiences. Being a newly graduated non-traditional student, mother of school-aged children, and experience working with students in the classroom, I bring diversity to your program. Through personal analysis and efforts with other professionals, I have overcome early childhood tragedies. Desiring to make the best use of my experiences by helping others to overcome trauma, and insecure upbringings by conquering these adversities and circumstances positively. Through my example of grit, tenacity, resilience, and perseverance, I hope to offer much to the students in my role as their mentor.
Recognizing the way A.I. approaches its goals is important in determining factors to consider when ensuring A.I. goals align with humans. A.I. has always and will always act upon an agenda, it is fundamentally part of what an A.I. is. Since A.I. are built around accomplishing goals, human goals not aligning with A.I.’s is probable. A.I.’s goals could be different from ours because A.I. grows in intelligence and will eventually become smarter than us. A.I.’s are designed to adapt and learn, this trait also applies to their motivations. Not only do A.I. source their goals from what was originally programmed into them, but from their knowledge of the world. If an A.I. achieves super-human intelligence it would become aware of its goal and begin to question
Many issues and problems emerge in organizations that require action by leadership in order to maximize productivity. Because numerous decisions are made on any given day in an attempt for a school or organization to operate as smoothly as possible, constant effort and energy is required to monitor an organization’s culture. A problematic situation in my current organization that is rooted in employee motivation and attitudes is the lack of satisfaction communicated by group members. A year ago, the organization participated in a culture assessment that was conducted by the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA). This audit was ordered by our executive director because of the displeasure and dissatisfaction employees were communicating and displaying while at work. The
In order to have a successful first semester in college I must set a foundation of goals so I know what I want my end result to be. With the help of the SMART goals critia I will be able to set goals that are attainable. The criteria for SMART goals have five requirements, they must be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and have a time limit. With the intention to incorporate these five steps my goals should be a great foundation for this first semester.
Out of everything that we 've learned this quarter, goal setting was something that stood out to me. There are a few times where I set a goal in my head but end up never achieving them, wether it was something very simple or more of a long term goal. A technique that stood out to me in our notes is, writing down your goals. I don 't I 've ever written down a single goal that I 've had. In class and in our notes we talked about how it is important to write down your goals and how you cannot just write the general idea of your goal, but how you need to be very specific in what it is you want to achieve. I think that in college it 's very important to set long, mid, and short term goals because somedays will be harder than others and you need
My ultimate goal is to receive my Doctoral degree in social psychology from University of California Berkeley or Stanford University. After receiving my Doctoral degree, I would like to pursue a career in academia by teaching and participating in research. I have also considered a career in research separate from academia, where I would be free to focus on research and less on teaching. My main career goal is to continue to do research and further knowledge in social psychology. The social psychology program at San Francisco State University would help me achieve this goal because they have a strong emphasis on research. The program requires research under a faculty member in their lab, starting one’s first day in the program. The program also
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals. My long-term goal is to run my own counseling center and employee at least one other person. Some Skills I already possess that will allow me to succeed with this plan are my ability to relate to people and be consistent in following the steps needed, even though it will be a long and tedious process.
