As an educator it is essential for us to have a strong philosophy. Teachers must exemplify clear goals and standards for their students. It is important because students and parents must understand what it is they are trying to accomplish. Teachers must have a strong stance on how to address different learning styles, how to present curriculum, the teachers roles and importance in the learning process, how to effectively manage a classroom, the reasons and goals for education and more. The goal of an effective teacher should be to educate our youth, as well as preparing them to be successful and functioning individuals in society.

They hold their students accountable to these goals throughout their time teaching the class. In the beginning of every year, a teacher must give their students a goal. This goal must be clear and comprehendible, and must have a time limit attached to that goal. For example “Students in my second grade class will be able to read the first Harry Potter book, write a clear and concise paragraph, and be able to correctively do their times tables to the number 20 by the end of the year”. These goals are clear and precise, and they have a date attached to them as well. This will allow the students to know what they are working towards. Teachers should post the goals in a visible location in the classroom so the students are able to easily view the goals as a reminder. This means that they must have environments that are “orderly and focused on learning” . The teacher should also manage the classroom appropriately, which will ensure that the environment supports academic learning and is safe. An organized classroom is important to having a well-managed classroom. The student’s safety should always be the primary concern of a teacher. There should be a clear line of sight from the teacher to the students at all times. Students should also be able to see the board, where the classroom goals should be listed. Transitions between subjects should be as quick and efficient as possible with no wasted movement or distractions. Teachers should let students know that they care by communicating effectively. Learning student’s names, and calling them by their first names is a big step. Also spending time with students before school and during lunch breaks is crucial. A community of learners is what I would intend to create. A community of learners is a place where I and my students all will work together to help everyone learn. If bad behavior was apparent I would discipline my students, but not out of ill will, but intent to help them grow as individuals. Students can often tell the difference between the two. Teachers roles are crucial to the learning of the student. Students are constantly around teachers, so they can be looked at as an extension of a parent. Teachers
