According to Stoudmann, G and Al-Rodhan, N. (2006) globalization can be defined as “a process that encompasses the causes, course, and consequences of transnational and trans-cultural integration of human and non-human activities”. Globalization has ultimately been on of the most powerful tools toward helping economic empowerment, development, however this is not always achieved in developing countries as their economies face many challenges during globalisation, therefore harnessing its full benefits is an on going predicament for developing nations. The ongoing trend that is Globalisation has brought various benefits to the developing nations that cannot be properly emphasized. That being said, there is indeed poor consensus in regards to developing nations economic growth that places the process of Globalisation into question on whether or not it is beneficial for all involved. Supporters of globalization, argue that it has the potential yield positive results in the long run more so for developing countries. On the contrary pessimistic viewers of have an opposing view, they argue for globalisation to have negative effects on developing nations as it is in favor of developed nations (Baddeley, 2006). This essay will argue against Globalisation, even though its efforts has benefited several developing nations allowing for a more unified and prosperous world, the negative affects of globalisation weigh more than the good. Globalization does not always facilitate economic growth as promised to the developing nations, however it does play an important role in the decrease of poverty within these nations. According to Haase (2012), Multinational Corporations has a higher wage rate then that of domestic corporations, this has been the case in Mexico. Despite the positive impact multinational corporation have, there are also significant drawbacks that need to be taken into consideration as they sometimes outweigh the benefits of multinationals. International companies may be liable to exploitation of the workforce. In example, countries like China where there are no strict labour, health or safety laws to protecting workers and their environment. In addition, pollution is another drawback of Multinational Corporation; some local governments fail to insist on environmental conscious practises, as they fear of losing the said “benefits” of the multinational corporations.
