Global Warming: The Greenhouse Effect

Imagine our future world. We automatically think of flying vehicles, electronic houses, and a high-tech world. Now, let's face reality. Our future is on the path to be overwhelmed with heat, disease, pollution, and even death. This dismal future ahead of us is because of global warming: a gradual increase in temperature in our atmosphere. Although we can blame this as being the reason of our failing world, one of the biggest dangers to human life today is human life itself. Humans unknowingly cause global warming with the amount of pollution and other harmful gases that contribute to the Greenhouse Effect. Many of the factors causing these greenhouse gases that are destructive to our atmosphere are solvable. Some of these causes are very simple like transportation, industrial effects, and lack of education. A single individual cannot be blamed for the world pollution nor can a single individual fix it. To see an improvement in our environment it is vital for each of us to collaboratively change our habits to benefit our world. At Benedictine University we need to find ways to reduce and reuse carbon dioxide to lessen the amount of air pollution we cause as a university. Global warming increases the likelihood of injury, disease, and death due to the intensified heat and unwanted pollution in the air. It also diminishes food production, which leads to an under-nutrition in our population. When pollution by cars, planes, or factories is released into our atmosphere, the “greenhouse gases” given off by them trap heat within our environment. One of the major causes of this is due to our transportation habits. We can avoid causing unwanted pollution by fixing our means of transportation by carpooling or purchasing fuel-efficient car... ... middle of paper ... a stronger community by working together for a common cause. Something stronger than actually taking part in this environmental project would be spreading it by word of mouth. Sharing the correct information and facts with family and friends is very effective, because when more people change attitudes, the impact is greater.
