There are many misconceptions and delusions about what global warming is and how it affects the planet and the life on it. Many skeptics and borderline critics have claimed that global warming is a hoax or a conspiracy by the government. Others say global warming is caused by the sun or the Earth going through cycles of warming and cooling, but contrary to all their beliefs, global warming is a growing issue and is negatively affecting the Earth. So far, scientific and statistical data has shown highly conclusive evidence that weather patterns, animal migration patterns and arctic melting patterns are linked to global warming. Global warming is causing extinction and migration of animals and plants that are vital to the Earth’s ecosystem. This…show more content…
While the sun does go through cycles, currently the sun is in its cooling phase, which doesn’t correlate with the increase in average temperature. The real reason is due to the increase in carbon dioxide and other potent greenhouse gases such as methane that are released and then trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere. This CO2 is released when fossil fuels like coal and gasoline are burned for the use of energy. In a natural cycle, these gases are normally adsorbed into the oceans, trees and the ground, residing there for many years. This cycle has been in progress for millions of years and has helped balance out the amount of CO2 and other gases in the atmosphere. The cycle has helped maintain stable temperatures of millions of years. The dawn of the industrial revolution was the match that started this rapidly growing fire. Ever since then, these gases have been gradually increasing temperatures. Starting in the mid-1970s, global temperatures rose 0.5 °C over twenty-five years (Kennedy). The last three decades have gotten consecutively warmer. This change in temperature is getting dangerous and is now effecting the…show more content…
Damages to infrastructure caused by rising sea levels, fires, droughts and many other disasters are taking their toll not only on buildings, homes and schools but, also forests, jungles and other natural environments. Economists and scientists predict huge migrations of people will cause lost in productivity and security, which is necessary for economic stability in any country. Those who have been studying these fluctuations, say that positive changes must accrue soon if we want to prevent massive economic instability on a global scale. Yet, as humans we see things in the short-term, this will eventually need to change if we are to prevent global warming or other major
