The book I chose to read for this book report was Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warning by Bjorn Lomborg. This book was originally published in 2007. Lomborg offered many perspectives on the subject of global warming and climate change, stating that it will cost millions and billions of dollars. However, even with the amount of work and money put into stopping the global warming problem, there may be little impact on the world. Lomborg argues that perhaps humans should start with smaller steps, such as fighting diseases or maintaining a safe, fresh water supply. Doing so could allow a lower death rate and fix the world on a drastic measure. The author believes that with a clear mind and an organized mindset, humans can potentially help the world become a richer and healthy environment. This book has many highlights that the author would like to share with the world. It is written such a way that he seems to be making fun of the politicians. Although it is not very entertaining, I liked the ideas that the author stated in order to provide new viewpoints on the situation. This book applies to the theme of Human and Environment Interaction in the geography field. It illustrates the connection between man and nature and how we must help nature to help ourselves and the environment. This interaction is how humans change their environment and how the environment changes them. For example, climate change is proving that the global temperatures are being changed because of pollution that humans have made and now humans are trying to modify their actions to help conserve the planet.
