Global Warming
Human kind has entered a brand new relationship with the earth. The constant and increasing pressures we are exerting threaten our planets ability to sustain life itself. Change-in the way we think , and in the way we live-is needed now.Global warming is the most urgent environmental problem the world will face in the next decade and the next century. Few, if any, trends are more important to our future than climate change caused by human activities. Scientist around the world are warning us that global warming poses a major threat to our future quality of life, previously there has been little information on this problem. Right now, the rate of global warming may be 100 times faster than it has ever been. Very soon the earth may become hotter then
at any time in human history.
In the last decades the problems of atmospheric change have been gravely advanced by pollution resulting from human activities. These environmental changes pose a real threat to the lives of people and wild life.It is vital to all of us that we fully understand the complex relationship between the atmosphere and the earth. The earth is getting warmer. the changes are small, so far, but they are expected to grow and speed up. Within the next 50 to 100 years, the earth will continue to heat up hotter than it has been in the past million years. As oceans warm and glaciers melt, land and cities along coasts may be flooded. Heat and drought may cause forests to die and food crops t...
The Huaorani are the bravest people in the Amazon. It says so throughout Savages by Joe Kane. It is about the indigenous group called the Huaorani residing deep in the rainforest of the Amazon. They have their culture that struggles to maintain tradition, “Though Moi hit the streets of Washington D.C., at the evening rush hour, he walked in the city as he does in the forest-in slow, even strides “(Kane, Savages). The small indigenous group that reside in the Amazon are fighting against outer forces. The petroleum companies are destroying the land of the Huaorani people. Joe Kane who is the author and narrator of the book, tells the story of the Huaorani people and their struggles in the outer world
Global Warming, much of what does or does not happen forty years from now rests on our actions or inactions taken between now and then. The crucial question is whether we should pour all our resources into mitigation – reducing our carbon emissions. According to scientists who study the climate there are other environmental problems; “we now face a global crises in land use and agriculture that could undermine the health, security, and sustainability of our civilization”.
The need for delegation in the nursing field is attributed to the fact that these professionals cannot perform every task for every patient. However, the delegation process is guided by some principles that help nurses to enhance the efficiency of their practice and avoid any legal implications. These principles include the fact that the process must always be in the best interest of the patient, ensuring the support employee must be adequately trained to carry out the task, and document written evidence of competence assessment. These principles are critical to the success and effectiveness of the delegation process.
The study called the Citizen Political Ambition Study was created to try and figure out why a gender gap still exists between men and women in politics. It offers a first-of-its-kind examination of three study groups with two opposite sexess dividing the groups in two. The focus groups were groups that worked in jobs that were more likely to end up running for office. The three occupations were within law, business, and education. The results were based on 3,765 participants of those were 1,969 men and 1,796 women. The study found that gender does play a role in the decision of whether or not to run for office, which I will also argue determines who wins and loses based on sex.
Delegation is defined as entrusting a task to another individual while remaining accountable for the result (Mullen, 2014). According to the principles of delegation, an RN may delegate certain areas of care as long as they do not delegate the nursing process itself (Kelly, 2012). In addition, the RN needs to ensure (prior to delegation) that the individual that the task has been delegated to has the proper certification/training to perform the delegated task (Kelly, 2012). Based on the five rights of delegation (the right task, the right circumstance, the right person, the right direction and communication and the right supervision and evaluation), I would delegate the bathing, toileting, bed making, ambulation, transport, positioning, feeding
The nurse needs to recognize the limitations of each staff member and learn what assignments are within the scope of their practice and what are tasks that need delegation. Delegation is defined as a complex process that requires clinical judgment and final accountability for patients’ care (Weydt, 2010). An assignment is defined as “giving someone else a task within his/her own practice and is base on job descriptions and policies” (NCSBN, 2005, p. 1). The Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and the Board of Vocational nursing & Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) website, lists what duties the RN and the LVN can legally do and is within their scope of practice, this is called the ‘nurse practice act’. A nurse assistant personnel (NAP) or Unlicensed Assistive personnel (UAP) may perform different tasks depending on the state that they reside in, but most include tasks that are considered activities of daily living (ambulating, hygiene, grooming)(NCSBN, 2005). The LVN can perform tasks that the nursing assistant can do, as well as other tasks which include: medication administration (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular), simple dressing changes, wound care, suctioning, catheter insertion, drawing blood from a patient, and starting an IV and intravenous fluids. IV and blood draws are dependent on the LVNs certification, competence, and
“A novice delegator will delegate no tasks due to lack of confidence or will delegate with minimal follow-up due to lack of knowledge. The expert nurse will appropriately delegate according to the team members’ abilities and will have appropriate follow-up especially when sensing a change in the patient’s status.”(Heuristic. (n.d), 2007, p 111) There is currently a rise in the role of unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) and a decrease in the use of licensed practical nurses (LPN) in health care due to the ever changing restructuring of reimbursement
Earth faces one of the most important and complicated issues ever faced, which is climate change. Climate change is the long-term change in atmospheric temperatures and climate. Although it has been denied and prolonged the issue now, it has created an even bigger problem and it has to solved and fast. The human impact over all the years of existence has changed the Earth’s climate completely. More severe storms are occurring, higher and lower temperatures than normal are reported, and some of the planet’s nonrenewable resources are slowly disappearing.
Conflict is a natural inevitable condition in organizations. Conflict occurs every day in a variety of situations ranging from emotional disputes between colleagues, to disputes between departments about lines of authority, to legal disputes involving several organizations. According to Sullivan and Decker (2009), conflict is defined as the consequence of real or perceived differences in mutually exclusive goals, values, ideas, attitudes, beliefs, feelings, or actions within one individual, between two or more individuals, within one group, or between two or more groups. Conflict arises for many reasons and can be characterized in numerous ways. Jehn (1995) discusses the types of conflict regardless of level, as task content conflict, emotional conflict, and administrative conflict. Furthermore, conflict can be a situation that is beneficial or detrimental to the organization and or those who are involved. Considering the statistics, DelBel (2003) states that worldwide, nurses are three times more likely than any other service occupational group to experience workplace violence, and United States (US) health care workers face a 16-times greater risk of conflict than other service workers. In addition, more than half of US workplace aggression claims emanate from the health care sector (DelBel, 2003). Therefore, it is incumbent for nurses to understand that conflict can be successfully managed through the understanding and application of various conflict-management techniques and negotiation skills. While not all workplace conflict is avoidable, research indicates that a significant portion of conflicts are preventable. The purpose of this paper is to provide a description of an incident that occurred during clinical hours, des...
Conflict comprises substantive, procedural, and psychological dimensions that participants in conflict respond to on the basis of their perceptions of a particular situation. This perception that filled with thoughts and emotions that guide the individual to a solution. Therefore, understanding the type of conflict and the way he or she responds to conflict is important in identifying effective strategies to manage conflict in the healthcare environment. Conflict management styles are used depend on the situation and parties. The nurse leader need to be purposeful and thoughtful when engaging in conflict resolution as the quality of communication and teamwork among healthcare providers has been directly linked to the safety of patient care. A nurse leader can strategically enhance patient safety through effective conflict management. The first strategy is engage in dialogue, where the nurse leader and nurse engage in dialogue that address conflict and conflict management behavior as a first step in creating a healthy work environment. The lack of communication and avoidance of the conflict prevents the root of the problem from being properly addressed and resolved, thus the conflict situation remains. Non punitive debriefing with staff about the management of a conflict issue provides reflective learning and removes frustration, which can lead to trust, openness, and effective conflict resolution in the future. Therefore, I will use this strategy to resolve the co-worker conflict in my workplace. The next strategy is engage in coaching, in which the nurse leader will minimize the conflict by educating nurses to learn how to effectively resolve conflict themselves. The third strategy is identify potential conflicts. Conflicts are normal and are usually predictable. Procedures and processes to identify potential common conflicts will be developed to
The Bible calls Christians to be holy, from the beginning of time all the way to the very end of time, “Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined” (Titus 1:8 The New International Version Bible). The term holy can only be achieved through the work of the Holy Spirit that guides Christians and through the Holy Spirit they are given the fruits of the spirit. In this study of Holy verses Good, it will be looked at from the point of view of false fruits, the importance of spiritual practices and discipline and how they are important, it will be shown how Christians despite being in a fallen world are made holy and how through the relationship of the Holy Spirit Christians are
Many climate scientists, researchers, and environmentalists are expressing concerns about shifts in the overall climate of the earth. It is believed that a dramatically dangerous warming is taking place in the overall global climate, a problem that is referred to as "global warming”. Global warming is the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of Earth’s climate system. This temperature rise is due to the damaging effects of deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels. It is our responsibility to preserve our planet and our way of living but in order to do that we need to act now. If we continue to destroy the planet with no regard as to how serious this matter is there could be several negative effects to us as human being and other living thing on Earth. This is why global warming is truly a global issue and needs to be tackled collectively. We must to act now in order to reduce the dangerous levels of carbon dioxide emissions and we must to work together.
As we approach the future we are faced with many global problems. Most of these problems arise because we have caused them ourselves. We need to face these problems and find a solution. Global warming, although most often overlooked in importance, is a crucial problem of the future directly related to human activities. Global warming is caused by gases humans release into the atmosphere called anthropogenic gases and by deforestation. Anthropogenic gases include carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydrofl...
Background and Audience Relevance: There are always conversations about our planet. We see our earths glaciers melting, weather temperature rising, and pollution affecting our resources. But for some reasons we tend to look away. We should be more aware of this potential event and I’m here to inform everyone about what actually is global warming and the effects of it.
Global Warming One of the most substantial problems in the world today is global warming. This gradual warming of the earth is in occurrence at an extremely slow rate but it is happening. Many scientists believe that as human’s work and release greenhouse gases into the earth’s atmosphere, it can become dangerous for the long lasting life of humans and our environment. “Unless we take immediate action, the impacts of global warming will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly and damaging, and increasingly affect the entire planet - including you, your community, and your family” (“Global Warming Impacts”).
