Communication is a complex subject to grasp. Those who study the subject, however, learned the importance of studying it. Understanding the ideas behind becoming skilled in dialogic practices creates value, whether it stems from conflicts of a personal nature, in institutions, or across cultures. While some argue conflict does not create value, those who grasp its value, create positive value in presenting themselves and in exploring others.

We attempt to pursue peace but find there are many cultural differences which cause us conflict and hold up the peacebuilding attempt. Littlejohn and Domenici narrowed these differences down to varying ethnicities, races, interests, ideologies, and morals. Humans create positive value from multicultural conflicts when they one, acknowledge these differences, two, understand these conflicts arise from prejudices, miscommunication, and individualistic conditions, and three, ensure communication is done in such a way which makes the issues clear, the dialogue a process, and focuses on people rather than prejudices. AMPP, another acronym, gives a process for exploring the views of others in dialogic communication. The acronym stands for ask, mirror, paraphrase, and prime. The process starts by asking the other person questions to encourage them to share their path. Then you access the other person’s actions to understand their emotions. You then paraphrase their story to ensure you correctly understood the story. Once this is accomplished, you can choose to prime the other person for more information. This is done if you feel they still have something to share.
