This report analyses the job role of operations manager in the live music events industry. This report looks at the job role and how it impacts on the company’s performance due to the performance objectives (Quality, Speed, Dependability, Flexibility, Cost) of the operation manager.
The organisation chosen for this paper is Glastonbury Festivals LTD. Glastonbury Festival LTD is owned by Micheal Eavis who formed the ever-popular festival ‘Glastonbury’ at the farmland he owns.
Although since 2002 Glastonbury Festival LTD has joined force each year with ‘Festival Republic’ (a company consisting of both Live Nation and MCD) to manage the Festival, Glastonbury Festival LTD has retained 60% of the overall share of ownership.

The operation manager has responsibility rating as gold and is the only role that is rated with this level, all other titles that hold a responsibility rating come with their own rating of silver or bronze. The Gold, Silver and Bronze ratings give a clear decision making process and each level reports to their superior rating e.g. Bronze report to Silver, Silver report to Gold.

My final winter concert has come and gone quicker than I could have possibly imagined. It was certainly one I will never forget because it was my very first time performing in every band and choir group. It was a very stressful night but having it perfectly planned and having help from many of my fellow performers definitely made me feel a lot more at ease. This concert definitely had it’s ups and downs and there are somethings that I wish went a lot better. However in the end, I did enjoyed performing and gave it a lot of effort.

When carnival was created it was a day for the peasants to have freedom to do what they wanted to the kings and the hierarchy above them, but my question is why did the kings take it to heart? If what the Kings do to the peasants on a daily basis is not accepted when it is done to them on the day of carnival, then why do it at all?
Operations refers to the transformation of raw materials(inputs) into finished products(outputs). The operations process is one of the key business functions and is a crucial component to business success. Like every business, Qantas is affected by many internal and external influences requiring it to have effective strategies to respond to these influences. Businesses that are able to adopt and utilise effective operational strategies are able to quickly adapt and either reduce or take advantage of these influences that impact the business. The effectiveness of these strategies can measured by Qantas’ performance and whether or not it is able to hold it’s competitive advantage. How well these strategies respond to the influences on operations will determine the level of success that Qantas achieves.
Operations Management Process is the central arteries within the organization because it produces the planning process for goods and services, which are its reason for existent. Operations management is linked to all organizations as every organization is producing either a product or a service. However, it cannot be said to be the most important function since there are other functional areas and boundaries within an organization.
