Give The Gift of Life Imagine, a six week old baby girl - except instead of a healthy baby, this little girl is sick... very sick. Imagine the mother who thought her child was ‘perfectly healthy’ but instead of growing healthier and stronger, she is watching her child suffer with fevers over 104 degrees, at times screaming out in pain with any physical activity, even just a simple kick of her legs or a cough. The mother finds out a horrendous piece of information. Her child was born with an unusual kidney defect. The mother wallows in her tears as the doctors explain how difficult it will be because her child will be on antibiotics, along with other medications, every single day in the hope the child can survive until she is old enough to undergo a surgery to correct the worst of the problem. At the earliest, it will be at least three years. And even with that, the child may need countless surgeries and kidney valves afterwards. Kidney valves? The mother realizes ‘gifts’ from strangers who are willing to donate kidney valves may now be her only hope.
