“Little is much when God is in it” and how comforting is that thought for Christians. The Bible teaches us that God works through “little things” on our behalf and for His glory. There are several people or situations in the Bible where God used a “little” to accomplish His plan and purpose in the life of others.

Gideon “The Plan of God in little things”

God reduced the size of Gideon’s army for the people that were with him were too many, so God reduced the size of Gideon’s army to three hundred men (Judges 7:4-7). Gideon’s army consisted of thirty-two thousand men. But compared to the army of the Midianites this was a small army, nevertheless God showed up and said “you have too many”. Her future appeared to be over. You ever were that way in life. You lose your job, health, reputation, business or ministry and you say to yourself this is he end of my life. When I get that way I have to ask myself this question “How do you know that”. The fact is you do not know and that is why as believers we walk by faith not by sight (1Cor.5:7).The woman had very little in her possession to offer Elijah. But remember God works through our small situations to bring about an abundance of blessing. However it is through the “little” that we have we gain insight to the providence of God. She never complained about her want but was humble and went about trying to take care of her son, just the two of them and then Elijah shows up for dinner. What appeared like it was not enough became the very thing that sustained them. Why? We should be glad that we serve a merciful God and that God will bring relief to our suffering in due time. Deut 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments. Lam 3:22 It is of] the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. We all ought to rejoice that God is merciful and our suffering He will bring to an end. The people or the backsliders had come back to God from their own path to the Lord once again and even though it may not have been a full commitment it stimulated the heart of God to give them relief. 1Ki 18:37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou [art] the LORD God, and [that] thou hast turned their heart back again. God brings plenty of rain from a little cloud. When you walk with God you can see your deliverance before it comes to past 1Ki 18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for [there is] a sound of abundance of rain. Elijah was tuned into what God was about to do. What channel are you on? Can you sense when God is about to move on your life.
