My discussion will be based on Gibb’s Reflective Cycle (1988), it is very useful tool, it makes us to think through all the phases of a certain experience in a logic order, in addition it encourages us to think systematically about
One of the most influential aspects that I learned about myself during this course was the Gallup Strength Test. On this test, I was evaluated on by answering personality questions and the results pinpointed five of my superior strengths. The test was online and required that participants choose between two option of what they though was more true about themselves. As I took the test, I found that some of the questions were difficult to choose between. At the end of the test, I discovered that my number one strength was strategy. I highly identified with this result because I enjoy planning ahead and being prepared. It also was apparent during our class retreat when we were constructing the labyrinth. As my peers and I worked together, I was making sure that the path was accurate and that our masterpiece was functional. In other aspects of my life, I find myself looking to achieve the end result by creating a plan of how to get there. For example, I was recently in a group project that was getting off to a slow start. As we were getting closer to the deadline, I contacted my group members to split up the work evenly so that we did not have to meet in person, but would still be able to complete the assignment. By taking on this role, I was able to feel comfo...
The first stage of the cycle is the “plan” stage; this stage addresses the purpose of needed change, assesses the microsystem, followed by the development of goals (Taylor et al., 2013). The “do” stage is when the plans created in the first stage are set in motion. The third stage, “study”, is when the outcomes are assessed. The final stage, “act”, determines whether the goals were met or not met. If the goals were not met, then the cycle re-starts and it’s back to the “plan” stage. If the goals were met, then the plan is implemented and re-assessed for further improvements (see Appendix D) (Taylor et al.,
When writing a SMART Goal it is important to be specific about the goal an individual will like to accomplish. Thus, the specific goal is to motivate the staff within the higher education institution by 25% in a year. Also, the criteria of measurable will be met by the academic affairs office, provided that all 80 staff member's MSP feedback will be evaluated and measure the progress of motivation after each semester. Similarly, the Academic Affairs Department is setting achievable goals to ensure the maximum amount of participation throughout the staff. Additionally, the realistic goal of the online campus of a higher education institution will be met by changing the job design of the staff based on
Reflection as defined by the Oxford English dictionary (2012) as the action or process of thinking deeply about a subject, involving influence from one’s life and experiences, thus a reflective journal is designed to help me think deeply about my learning, especially on issues such as: my progress in learning, the difficulties I may have encountered in the process of learning, the strategies I have taken to get around those difficulties, and my evaluation of my own performance.
goals which is an acronym for specific, measurable, action, realistic, and time. Smart goals should be goals that are clear with a specific end result, may be measured and tracked, have specific actions that are necessary for the goal to be achieved, have a time limit and be a realistic goal for the individual. When referring to SMART goals, I made my goal to have a GPA of a 3.7 or higher by the end of the fall semester. My goal as a whole was to become more self-aware by practicing different strategies to assess and discover what learning style, learning habits, and thinking patterns work more effectively. To reach this goal, I said that I would, and I did, to begin work on an assignment on the day it was given out for at least 30 minutes, to make note cards on the notes taken that day every time I received notes, and that I would have all study materials for a test ready 3 days before the examination. I still have not received my final grade for any class, but I will know that I have achieved my goal when I have a 3.7 or higher GPA. I believe that every student should achieve, in one way or another, a piece of every student success definition, to assure that the student is well rounded. To achieve each of the student success definitions a student should use the S.M.A.R.T. goal method to guarantee that they will achieve success in each way possible. I do not know yet for sure if I have achieved my goal yet, but
For my two SMART goals, I am going to work on communicating and giving feedback to my workers. For my SMART goal for giving feedback, I am going to focus on my personal assessments. I am going to have a schedule
Gibbs’ reflective cycle encourages you to think thoroughly about the phases of an experience or activity, using the headings of the Gibbs’ cycle, you can use them to structure your reflection (Brookes.ac.uk, 2016).
Social networks are increasing dramatically every year. Employers are turning to social networks because it is a tool to screen job applicant’s profiles. According to a survey conducted by jobvite.com (2013), 94 % of employers use social media profiles to recruit job applicants. This trend assists the applicants and recruiters. Job applicants should be judged by their social network profiles because social media give positive image about the candidate, prove the information in the resume, and help to identify if the person fits the culture of the company or not.
In the nursing field the most commonly used cycle is the Gibbs cycle of reflection, it proposes that theory and practice enrich each other in a never-ending circle. The reflective cycle can be defined as a process that enables you to think systematically about the phases of an experience or activity by addressing the following questions in a cycle – DESCRIPTION, FEELING, EVALUATION, ANALYSIS, CONCLUSION and ACTION PLAN.
When I create a goal I always write down whether the goal is actually SMART, if I find that the goal is not “SMART” than I add all of the attributes of a SMART goal to it. These goals benefit my life because it keeps me organized on what I exactly what to accomplish I life. So far, by using smart goals I have been able to track just how well I have been doing in school. Every time I complete a goal, I get excited to complete the next goal. My goals keep me on track for my success and they motivate me to move on to the next goal. It’s an unspoken sensation to feel like you accomplished
