George Washington

George Washington is known as the man who brought America to victory in the Revolutionary War. Washington led the Continental Army in many battles, although there were multiple strings of defeats before any victories. During the war, he successfully crossed the icy Delaware River in the middle of the night preparing for attack against British mercenaries. It was the day after Christmas when they attacked. Towards the end of the war, the battle of Yorktown struck. George Washington’s army was proud to announce that they had won the battle. George Washington was the most influential figure during the American Revolution era because he was a devoted leader, crossed the Delaware River, and won the battle at Yorktown.
The army that Washington led was mainly composed of inexperienced colonist from around the colonies. Washington however, had some military experience, helping him with training the inexperienced soldiers. The soldiers could only work a few months at a time due to the lack of food and clothing which didn’t help solve the issue of working less frequently due to the lack of nutrition they were receiving. The men had to be retrained every so often, adding to the pressure of George Washington’s leading. He had many defeats after losing the Bunker Hill battle and Breeds Hill battle. These multiple defeats caused the colonists to start losing hope of someday being free from British rule. George Washington said though, that even though the army had no military experience, it didn't mean they couldn't discipline the British and return what the British did to the colonists.. ...October 19th 1781, forfeited after the battle of Yorktown, giving victory to Washington and his troops. The battle had lasted three weeks, until General Washington was given victory. When the British surrendered, George Washington had one last contribution to give. He stood up for the Congress and states because New York wanted to obtain pay and pensions from Congress.
Winning over the Revolutionary War, Washington gave colonists one thing Britain would never give: freedom. He started with inexperienced troops, and suffering from deadly and harsh winters, also never having enough supplies for all the soldiers, he ended with a major victory against Britain and gaining the colonists trust. He betrayed his native country, after he concluded the unfairness the British treated the colonists with and he accepted the challenge of leading the Continental Army to victory.
