A man who stood 6 feet, 2 inches tall with teeth composed of wood and hippopotamus ivory does not even begin to describe George Washington. He was born February 22, 1732 but forever lives in American history. He was a large component of the French and Indian War and achieved many accomplishments as a military leader and soldier. One of the most unique qualities of George Washington was the fact that he was very insightful when learning from his prior defeats in battle, and he had a strong will to never give up. He learned from his experiences in each battle to learn more about himself, and more about his desire to change the 13 colonies association with Britain. Although George Washington was born in a privileged English household he took his responsibilities very seriously and was looked upon as very resourceful. George Washington had accomplishments in battle, stayed true to his opinions, and always tried to improve his country. This is what made him a worthy leader and a remembered man. George Washington’s parents were Augustus Washington and Mary Ball Washington, his second wife. He was brought up in a modest English household. George was not sent to school because his parents did not have enough money to send all of their children to school. They were only able to send two of their sons, Augustus and Lawrence. However, George was also interested in education and saved every document ever given to him. Unfortunately, George’s father passed away when he was only 11 years old. His father was a moderately wealthy land owning man. He passed away owning ten thousand acres of land, somewhere around 50 slaves and a couple of iron forges. He felt that people should expand and shift to wheat production, in the hopes of making more foodstuffs that was in high demand (Johnson, 42 Ellis 57). These ideas were different than the ones that were currently in place. He was a bold man to even try and think about exploring these options. In conclusion, George Washington was a very resourceful leader who was constantly thinking about ways to improve the society that he lived in. He did indeed lose many of his battles, but his ability to learn from his mistakes made him a remembered military solider and a powerful leader. He challenged the normal, and always had a positive attitude when going out to defeat his opponents which was an important aspect of keeping moral up. He will always be remembered as a headstrong leader who was always looking for change and helped America become what it is today.
