A nation where neighbors did not know each other’s names and people only associated with themselves simply changed September 11th 2001. This change resulted in a unified nation and a long fight against the greater evil. One of the most horrific events that occurred in American history was the terrorist attacks that took place in New York City and President Bush’s State of the Union Address clearly construes all of the necessary evidence that unified our nation. George W. Bush’s speech contained ethos, pathos, and logos which allowed all of its viewers and interpreters to feel a sense of relief and security after all of the unfavorable happenings. When presenting the State of the Union Address, President Bush incorporated ethos throughout the speech to solidify that he could be a trusted person. In a time of crisis, such as 9/11, trustworthiness is limited and your own friends tend to become enemies. Having someone that the people of the United States could trust was a huge relief for many citizens and one of those dependable people were President Bush. Each year, kids who were too young to remember, are taught in schools by saddened teachers about a day that will live on in their hearts forever. Unaware of the actual pain it imposed on millions of people, I was one of those students that was too prude to comprehend the brutality. Reading this State of the Union Address, I was able to leave with the knowledge of the impact this intrusion left on the people and the country. With our nation at stake, the citizens of the United States of America had to bind together to fight the greater evil.
