George W. Bush George W. Bush is the 46th Governor of the State of Texas and is now the Republican nominee for President of the United States of America. Now during his second term as governor he has earned a reputation as being a very compassionate conservative who shapes is policy based on the principles of a limited government, personal responsibility, strong families and local control. Governor George W. Bush, is the son of former president George Bush who served two terms in office in the late 1980's and early 1990's. George W. Bush was born on July 6th, 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut, and moved to Texas with his parents as a toddler where he grew up in Midland and Houston, Texas. He received a bachelor's degree in from Yale University in 1968 and then proceeded to go to Harvard Business School where he received is MBA 1975. Governor Bush also served as an F-102 pilot for the Texas Air National Guard from 1968 to 1973. Governor Bush, after serving his state, began his career in oil and gas in Midland in 1975, where he worked until the mid 1980's. From this point, George W. Bush went on to help his father George Bush in Washington to help him win the presidency in 1988. After the win of his father, George W. then went on to gather a group of partners to purchase the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989 and which later built the Ranger's new home, the Ballpark at Arlington. During his time with the Rangers' he served as the general managing partner until he was elected Governor of Texas on November 8th, 1994. From that point he became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four- year terms on November 3rd, 1998 where he won 68.6 percent of the vote. During three Texas Legislative sessions, Governor Bush has worked in spirit of bipartisan cooperation with statewide leaders and members of the Texas Legislature to enact historic reforms to improve public schools, put welfare recipients to work, and to halt unneeded lawsuits. Governor Bush has also strengthens criminal justice laws and brought many tax cuts to the state of Texas. With the upcoming presidential election, Governor Bush hopes to be the newly elected president of the United States. Where he has proposed bold initiatives to ensure that Americas youth will be prepared to lead the country into the new century in full stride.
