The definition of gentrification is that the arrival of new, middle-income groups into the lower socio-economic communities leads to the displacement of the native residents as if the author John Betancur (2009) said that “The gentrification literature is divided into two main streams: the first highlights the displacement of lower by higher classes while pointing to the dislocations and conflicts it imposes on communities. The second stream dismisses displacement while claiming that gentrification plays a major role in urban revitalisation and cultural revival.” (p, 384).
