I believed that the counselor was incompetent, and was not culturally competent or gender sensitive, regardless of the race many cultures share different beliefs and as a social worker we should respect that and not form a special gender to a certain religion but understand the individual family beliefs. Eboni’s mother was not happy because she wanted more for her daughter as many cultures desire for their children whether its their son or daughter. Her father believed that it was a blessing from God because of the unborn child’s life. Many men don’t believe in abortions. Yet the boyfriend had other plans and that was not being a father, especially at that age. As a mother first, I would have been very disappointed for my son or daughter because I would have loved for them to have a much better uncomplicated future meaning that they can still go to college, but they will have to pay childcare, they may not like each other later, etc. As a social worker I would have used the self-esteem intervention. At that point I would have believe that this is what she needed now. She had even felt bad that thus happen and stated that she didn’t know, and the school only teach absence. This helped me to understand that she did not have the knowledge of what she was doing and did not expect to get pregnant. As mention in according to Kirst-Ashman and Hull (2018), I would use the Enhance Self-Esteem intervention to help Eboni if she had came to me with her
