1. Presenting Problems The client has been experiencing worry constantly for the past eight months. The worry consists of losing her job and not being able to provide for her children. Even with her best efforts to shake these negative thoughts, the client is not able to do so. Ever since the worry started, the client has found herself to be restless, tired, and tense. When at work, she finds herself pacing in her office when she’s alone and has had several embarrassing moments in meetings where she has lost her train of thought or what she was trying to say. This does not seem to be a severe case of General Anxiety Disorder because the client has only been experiencing these symptoms over the past 8 months. Since this condition is affecting her at work, home, and during her daily functioning, this disorder needs to be treated and taken care of before a more severe case of this disorder develops. First and foremost it is important for the client to withdraw from any activities that alter her state of mind and help act as a buffer for this condition. This includes mind altering drugs and even minor drugs such as caffeine. Alcohol should not be used as well for this can create deeper feelings of negativity which will only make the client’s disorder more severe. If the client refrains from taking part in these activities, this will significantly help her chances of beating the disorder and live a happier, healthier life. Also it is encouraged for the client to take part in physical activities and exercise more often. Getting outside and focusing on stimulating activity will help the brain re-focus and let loose for the time being. This could greatly help in relief of the stress that has been placed on the client 's shoulders. As far as treatment goes, the client would benefit with some behavioral and cognitive therapy such as talk therapy. It is important the client expresses her concerns and worries to a therapist who is trained to work with General Anxiety Disorder. This type of therapy will help the client gain control of her negative views on life and help her better manage the stressors the client constantly endures. When stressful situations occur, the client will be able to recognize and feel more in control of the situations that cause the most stress. When the client feels more in control of the stressors in her life she will be more relaxed and content with the problems she is facing. As far as
