1. How do people tend to express gender on campus?
During one of the in class assignments, I had the opportunity to observe individuals who visited the campus Starbucks. It was observed, that females and males express their gender by the way they address. For example, when comparing both genders when wearing shorts, females wore shorter shorts than males. Females seem to wear tighter clothing than men. Another way people express their gender, is by the way they walk. Men tend to walk more stiff, with less movement, while females tend to walk loosely with their hips.

2. What gender roles to you see most prevalently in CSUSM’s culture?
Some of the gender roles that I commonly see on campus, would be door holding. For example, if a male is about to enter a building and theirs a female behind him, he will open the door for her. Another role that I noticed, while I did my observation at Starbucks, was that if a female and a male are walking together to get coffee, the male will allow the female to enter the building first. 3. What types of behaviors do you think are particularly gendered in our campus culture?

Some of the words and phrases I have heard, have been “You asshole”, “f*cker”, “ah you b*tch”, “sh*t”, and “f*ck”. Some of these words have commonly been used when people drop something, or hurt themselves in any way. Other times, individuals used some of the phrases towards someone else, in a manner of playing around. Instead of decreasing come one as mean, they used the words, “asshole” or “f*cker”. I think the only word that has been gender biased on campus, has been the word “b*tch”, as it shames or commonly related to female gender compared to the male gender. I don’t think I have personally experienced someone using homonormative terms on
