Gender discrimination is the prejudice against one’s gender rather than considering their qualifications. As the values of people’s rights are progressively acknowledged and gender discrimination poses serious problems to their rights, people become more inclined to resolving the issue of gender discrimination. Sexism is an oppression forming based on an individual’s education background, and such beliefs are entrenched in the mindset of people’s in patriarchal driven society. Those beliefs make up a complex issue that still exists evidently in every society.

Through the different approaches to the issue of gender equality, both stakeholders should consider mitigating the severity of gender discrimination by disregarding gender-based expectations on men and women, and promoting both genders’ participation in the society equally.
On one hand, UN Women is an influential organization that makes considerable contributions to eliminating discrimination against women and empowering the rights of women.
UN Women establishes three main missions for the purpose of meeting the needs of women nationwide. The first goal is to provide “support for inter-governmental organizations in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms”. Secondly, the organization works alongside with Member States to “implement these standards while readily supplying suitable technical and financial support to those countries in need, and to effectively corporate with civil society”. The last mission is to lead the UN system’s work on gender equality and promote accountability (“About UN Women”). Therefore, the use of name-blind applications would provide more opportunities for the employers to rationally evaluate the applicants’ skills and abilities without involving gender, ethnicity, education background, etc. (McCann). The proposal of the Prime Minister proves that gender-based expectations are an inevitable barrier that prevents the society from obtaining gender equality.
Viewing the matter from the same perspective as the Prime Minister, it discloses how the elimination of such expectations will promote gender equality and improve future outcomes. In addition to the prevention, both stakeholders should also cooperate with each other and educate young people to go for future-oriented occupation regardless of their genders and encourage the public to become more opening towards one gender involving in the traditional roles of another gender. This essay has argued that there are many limitations that the Prime Minister is subjected too. The three most important are federalism in Canadian society, the role of the Governor General, and the charter of rights and freedoms. I used two different views of federalism and illustrated how both of them put boundaries on the Prime Minister’s power. Next I explain the powers of the governor general, and explained the ability to dissolve parliament in greater detail. Last I analyzed how the charter of rights of freedoms has limited the Prime Minister’s power with respect to policy-making, interests groups and the courts. The Prime Minister does not have absolute power in Canadian society, there are many infringements on the power that they have to respect.

The influential success of NOW can be understood through the following factors. Its’ concrete background; nearly half century worth of history as foundation; well structured organization; membership incentives; the function and approach of NOW/PAC and NEP; up to date Statement of Purpose; high priority to key issues that benefits society as a whole; and lastly the services that NOW provides on the global scale. Contrary to Mellon’s view, Paul Barker disagrees with the idea of a prime-ministerial government in Canada. Both perspectives bring up solid points, but the idea of a prime-ministerial government leading to too much power in the hands of the prime minister is an exaggeration. In past experience, through travels outside of the country for business relations it was discovered very early on that most cultures will respect fairness and tolerance, but each to a different degree. American women in managerial positions have had to struggle to find ways to be effective in cultures where their authority and credibility are not traditionally the norm. Perhaps it was the value of fairness that clashed with tolerance or respect for diversity on this particular business trip to Japan over 10 years ago. However, even if there was an underlying agreement on such values, in this particular scenario these values were prioritized differently among the two different cultures and might have been expressed different for that reason.
In western society males are taught what it means to be masculine and females are taught what it means to be feminine. Lorber (1994:57) states “Individuals are born sexed but not gendered, and they have to be taught to be masculine or feminine.” As we grow older we are taught what is expected of us on the basis of what gender were identify as and/or what gender other people perceive us as. For instance, a woman is expected to cook, clean, and have occupations such as a nurse, or secretary. A man is expected to have be either have top jobs such as a surgeon or have a tough labor jobs, and be the bread winners. Western society expects each gender to stay within their gender role. Although I have never lived in a third world or non-Westernized country, I have studied the conditions women suffer as "inferior" to men. In National Geographic and various courses I have taken, these terrible conditions are depicted in full color. Gender inequality is a terrible trait of our global society, and unfortunately, a trait that might not be ready to change. In America we see gender bias towards women in voters' unwillingness to elect more females into high office, and while this is not nearly as severe as the rest of the world, it indicates the lingering practice of gender inequality.

Although the international community views women with high regard and of the utmost respect, ancient traditions, one sided beliefs, and false stereotypical propaganda, which demean and belittle women are existent in the world today. Historically, women have been victims of inequality and abusive practices, and due to this, many women never reach their full potential in the economic world. There are legitimate concerns for the environment, for the fair and proper assistance developed nations must extend to developing nations, and for equitable educational opportunities for women. The Holy See Mission at the UN consistently promotes these authentic goals minus the snags of population control measures.
