Which is why the Equal Pay Act of 1963 was written. Nowadays if you paid women less than men it would seem unfair. But back then you rarely saw women in the workforce which is one of the many reasons they did that. In today’s society all of women and outperform a man’s task and can sometimes do it even better. Women and evolving for the better and I think that it was a good idea that the Equal Pay act of 1963 was introduce to the world even though today some employers still tend to pay women less than men.
In the same contrast, society also benefits in a way from women’s disadvantage on pay. A lot of women are highly skilled workers who have a lot of experience and the potential of bringing more revenue for their companies, but because they are paid less, the company makes more revenue contributing into a better economy that everybody benefits from. Therefore, from an economical stand of point, society benefits from this disadvantage in a larger scale. Also, because markets tend to balance themselves, it may result in a better balance in wages rewarding women’s work and giving it
As a result, gender diversity is reduced. To promote gender diversity, Income should be equal regardless of gender. Because women have been employed in the workforce for many years, they should be treated as equals to men. During the initial stage of employing women, women were paid unequally in comparison to men because women were thought to have a primary source of money, usually coming from the husband of the woman By having women work, a secondary amount of money would be made. The pattern of unequal pay among the different gender groups still continues throughout the years as major businesses still pay women unequally.
One way is to pay everyone the same amount if it is the same job when they enter the job. Many women get paid one third less than men even if they are doing the same job. Also, many women do not get encouraged to continue with STEM fields from an early age, but men do, and that intimidates them because they might feel like they are not good enough for STEM fields jobs. Another way to fix these problems is by stopping all sexual harassment towards women. Men feel like they can take advantage of women because they are superior, but that is completely wrong.
Gender inequality, a social problem that is common all over the world, still exists and has a negative impact on our American society. Gender inequality remains a major barrier to human development because it allows unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. Despite how we live in an advanced society now, our perception of gender treatment is halted in the past. Although many feel that men should receive better treatment in education, work, and at home because they are perceived as the ‘breadwinners’, not the women, nonetheless, some feel that women are equal and should receive equivalent treatment regarding education, work, and marriages. Women have always been a step behind men because society has not accepted
To close the wage gap is to close a lot of other gender gaps that do exist and lead to gender differences in earnings. Such gender gaps include men working longer hours compared to women, men disproportionately choose higher-risk, higher paying occupations with greater safety risks for occupational injuries and fatalities, and men are less likely to be absent from work as compared to women for things such as doctor’s visits or to take care of the children. If women were truly paid less than men then why don't they make up most of the workforce since they are cheaper than men to employ. If they were paid less, that would create an “investment” opportunity that smart people would exploit. They would form firms comprised of underpaid women and shut down other firms with over-paid
It will be one of the luckiest things in the world if people could just do what they love in their careers, and pursue their dreams without any fears or worries about how society and others judge them. However, women in this society do not obtain the same rights that men own; many inequalities hinder women to live and work. From this class, I learned a lot about gender affects work, and women and men’ roles can be very different in the work. In many industries, even though women get same education and professional degrees as men do, they are hired at lower rates than men are. Many women meet glass ceilings and find it is hard to attain the highest status in the profession, and this causes the society locks women out of higher level
Nowadays, most women remain unaware that their employers underpay them. Women cannot argue for higher wages if they do not know they earn less than their male equivalents. Each employee sharing their salary will allow women to detect if they are earning less than their male colleagues with little difficulty. This will give women the tools needed to argue for a higher pay rate, and will help lower the wage gap. If a female worker goes to her boss with statistical evidence that she earns less than her male associates, the chances that her boss will award her a higher salary significantly increase.
Equal Work Equal Pay Recently my good friend complained to me that although she and her husband have the same position and job, she receives a lower wage than her husband. She believes that if she and her husband did not happen to work for the same company, she would have never noticed that women make less than men because of gender. I was a little shocked to hear my friend’s “true story”; I have unconsciously accepted that women have more care-giving responsibilities, which leads them to choose less demanding jobs with lower pay. More often than not, they work part time instead of full time, some of them choosing to quit their jobs or stop pursuing their education to stay home and take care their families. There is a stigma in our society
Many researchers give a few reasons why there is a wage gap. For example, some women leave their jobs to have children and have to come back to a lower paying job. This should not be one of the reasons women are getting paid less; just because they give birth to a child should not result in a pay gap. Until this inequality between women and men is resolved, there will always be this stereotype that men are above women. In this job field the men are outnumbered by the women, and they are the minority so they may feel like they deserve something.
