Often times people tend to plan out events and expect things to go smoothly. The problem with this though is that things in life don’t always go as planned. You don’t always win the big game or competition, You don’t always get the “love” of your dreams or receive the advanced technology device you were hoping to get on Christmas. Life just doesn’t work that way. You have to move on. Tash captured that to perfection with the main character teen nerd, Graham, in The Geek’s Guide to Unrequited Love, who planned his entire weekend at the New York City Comic-con with plans to win his best friend’s, Roxanna’s, heart. Tash has written 3 books in total and has won Amazon Best Book of 2016, Publishers Weekly Best Summer Book of 2016 and YALSA 2017 Top Ten Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers.

The plot flowed seamlessly to the end without being predictable, but, the climax wasn’t suspenseful nor did it have me on the edge of my seat. Despite the best friends to lovers cliche, that has been repeated in books, movies, and television shows, Tash created an original and unexpected ending that didn’t diminish the novel. Even so, the imagery was incredibly realistic. The description, methodically planning out the daily schedule and cosplay, the pacing of things during their days felt authentic, and without a doubt, the spirit of fandom. Graham's inner dialogue could make your heart melt. Graham was charming, quirky, and funny. Nonetheless, as the reader, the novel would have been more enjoyable if we really got to know the characters for who they really were without Graham’s infatuation. All of their interactions throughout their time at NYCC were tempered with Graham’s inner monologue. Specifically with Roxanna, constantly professing his love and undying
