The argument of whether gay marriage should be legalized or not is very controversial. According to an article from the Human Rights Campaign, there is nothing wrong with allowing homosexuals to have the same rights as everyone else. Every individual person should be given the opportunity to have equal rights, no matter what their sexuality. Gay marriage should be legalized in all states and has been postponed for much too long. There are several reasons why homosexuals feel strongly about wanting to be legally married, why wouldn't there be?
Which is a false conclusion based on a bias premise. The only value of marriage that there should be is the unconditional and in this case untraditional love between two people. Not only, do people look down on gay marriage because it is untraditional but because it is different. Furthermore, when “Celebrities are breaking up, making up, and hav... ... middle of paper ... ... that. However all of the points may be arguable it still doesn’t change that fact that gay people are humans that love like any other person in this world and should not be excluded from marrying the person that they love.
People opposing gay marriage say, “We must protect traditional marriage and the traditional family.” Matthew McTighe of the Mainers United for Marriage debates responds by saying, “Prote... ... middle of paper ... ...g and legalizing gay marriage. By not accepting gay marriage is discriminating gay people, they should have the same rights as everyone else does. What people don’t understand is it's not a choice to be gay. You don't chose who you love, you just do. You are born gay; you can’t choose to be gay.
In my personal opinion, gay marriage should be globally accepted The biggest misunderstanding in this hot topic is that those of the gay community have a "choice" to whom they can feel attracted to but simply choose to be gay. Just as heterosexuals do not "choose" who they are attracted to, neither do homosexuals. Multiple anti-gay groups claim that “homosexuality is preventable and treatable” as well as "living as a homosexual is not as happy-go lucky as frequently portrayed in the entertainment media.” How can someone with no personal experience of being gay say that homosexuality can be "changed," or even whether a homosexual can be happy or not? What about the research done proving that homosexuality is purely genetic? No one "chooses" to live a life filled with prejudice and discrimination.
Some may argue in the bible it states it is wrong to be involved in a gay marriage. If two people love each other why can they not get married? There are so many arguments that can be brought up to justify marriage and for couples to receive benefits like any other couple. In this society understand why some people like myself I feel like people have the right to be with who they want to be with and just because you don’t believe in it doesn’t make it bad. A gay person is no diffe... ... middle of paper ... ...y should someone be denied the right to get married just because they are gay?
That is what makes us such great country. We have our freedom to express who we are, but the gays do not because the older generations do not approve? There are so many things that are good about gay marriage. When gay marriage is allowed it is giving everyone their right to be married. This is important because we should all be able to get married when we see fit in our lives, no matter who we want our spouse to be.
If two people show that they deeply care about each other enough to commit their life to one another then they should be able to get married. When it comes to parenting “two parents are better than one good parent, but one good parent is better than two bad parents. And gender make... ... middle of paper ... ...hts that gays would have. No one wants to be denied their rights that everyone should have. In conclusion denying anyone human rights is just wrong.
Legalizing gay marriage has been a controversial topic in the past few years. In my opinion, gay people should be allowed to get married because it is a civil right. It shouldn 't matter what gender they prefer because they 're still regular people. Making gay marriage illegal, is the same as taking away someone 's freedom and civil rights. That is unethical and completely awful.
Same sex couples look at being denied the right to legally marry each other as their freedom of speech being taken away, but in actuality they are only expressing their love. Legalizing gay marriage will not damage society. If same sex marriage were legal everywhere in the United States, society will still function normally and no family values will be lost. If gay marriage is legal in seventeen, why must the other thirty three states continue to ban same sex marriage? How can we all be equal if we are being denied certain rights because of who we love?
Same sex marriage is a highly controversial topic that has been lingering in America for some time now. The American society prides itself in the provision of equal rights and opportunities to all, yet, homosexuals continue to be discriminated against and denied their rights to marriage. It is often believe that “marriage is a commitment between two people that love each other and want to share the rest of their life side by side. It is not measured by whether it is a man and a woman, or a couple of the same sex. It is measured by how much a couple loves each other and cares for each other.”(Cheney, 2009) Looking at that definition of marriage, there should never be any reason to deny two people that love each other the right to legally express it by marrying one another.
