Homosexuality in America: Good or Bad American society has always been divided when it comes to the topic of homosexuality. Homosexuality is more widely accepted today than it was several years ago, but some people still treat homosexuals like outcasts and discriminate against them in many areas. Not all of America has adopted the idea that homosexuality is okay and even normal. However, more have become tolerant. This issue is far more than just a religious battle.

The argument for and against the gay marriage debate often involve religious factors. Some religious associations refuses to employ of offer services to same sex couples. those who are against it argue that same sex relationships are immoral, against god's will and support the goal of human sexuality which is produced to children.Children that are raised by homosexual parent are every bit as capable of providing heterosexual parenting to their own children later in life.

Humans are born with a nature to judge the things around them in one-way or another. We complain, we murmur and we gossip about what is not normal or even normal in our sight. Yet, we struggle to see how others think about us and always fail look at ourselves first before judging and criticizing others. The measures of normality, intelligence, beauty and peculiarity are very subjective and we as humans are the inventors of these yardsticks. Yet, repeatedly we think that the principles of our measurement are perfect but we as mortal beings are not anywhere near perfect. Thus, is our yardstick and measurement truly perfect? The question that we are to ask ourselves is “Who are we to judge?”

Homosexuality, LGBT community, and gay marriage, are all terms that are commonly heard in the news today. Whether it is a protest, a pride march, or simply a marriage license, the members of these groups are making themselves heard. There are mainly two groups concerning this movement. There is the group in support, and the group against. The question asked, “Is homosexuality immoral?” Not only that question, but also the more complicated one of why? According to a poll taken earlier this year by Statista, 63% of Americans believe gay or lesbian relations to be morally acceptable. Homosexuality is defined as sexual orientation or activity with people of the same sex; whereas, heterosexuality is defined as sexual orientation or activity with people of the opposite sex. Homosexuality is a very controversial issue among many individuals. The controversy lies in the way people think, feel, and understand human sexuality. Therefore, homosexuality becomes controversial for all types of people, from those who are heterosexual to bisexual and even those who are homosexual. Emotion drives the way people interpret different phenomena, and those emotions, in turn, create and shape individual attitudes for understanding human nature. One of the most widely discussed current events in our society is homosexuality. It seems as though everybody has an opinion about this subject, whether they are for, against, or even confused by it. Christians are no exception to this rule. Views of homosexuality vary between and within denominations and their congregations. Some churches adamantly protest allowing homosexuals the right to get married, while others prominently display an image of a rainbow flag in front of their building, assuring passersby that people of all sexual orientations are welcome to their church. Some churches, on the other hand, seem to show reluctance in taking a position on the matter. According to Cadge, Day & Wildeman (2007), “Rather than articulating clear positions, many mainline Protestants have messier responses to the issue than simple position statements suggest” (p. 256). This implies that churches are aware of the sensitivity of the subject and are reluctant to take any decisive position, perhaps out of fear of the wrath of members from either side of the argument.

At one point in history, literal interpretations of the Bible was all the world had. In this time it was acceptable to stone someone to death and condemn homosexuals. As the intellectual side of humanity has grown it has stopped reading the Bible in a strict literal interpretation. Society no longer stones people to death, but they still condemn those who express themselves as homosexual. If Christians are willing to ignore some biblical teachings then they should not denounce others. Today’s Christians should not damn homosexuality.

A word “Homosexual” have always been there from the beginning but it was hidden somewhere due to the lack of person’s knowledge in old era, for example we still have some ancient mythologies of 18th century where in the abstract we could clearly see a homosexual conductance. It’s been hyped and disclosed by the media and then it spread later on. But even in today’s fast world there are also few people who feel ashamed of claiming there selves a homosexual because they think it’s something inappropriate, but research has proven this kind of feeling could also change their interests into a normal straight person. There are several debates on this topic and everyone has their own opinion.

Homosexuality has existed since the beginning of time, there wasn’t an actual name for it, but surely, sexual acts between two individuals of the same sex still occurred. Homosexuality, homoeroticism, bisexuality, polygamism and even just questioning these ideas were often looked down upon. I say this because in a biblical sense, it was believed that only a man and a woman should come together. Most Christians and Jews believe that in the beginning of creation, God created Adam and Eve to multiply the earth. So going against God’s will and engaging in sexual activity with someone of the same sex was mostly looked down upon. There are people who are in no way religious who believe that homosexuality is wrong because they believe that it’s more likely to spread STD’s, some people may just had a bad experience involving a homosexual or homosexuals, and some believe that it’s goes against the “natural law”. People believe that it goes against the “natural law” because they believe that two people should be able to reproduce so that the human race can thrive. But since two men, and two women can’t reproduce with each other, it goes against that “law”.

One of the biggest arguments today is whether homosexual couples should receive the same benefits as married couples. All couples whether homosexual or heterosexual should receive identical benefits, because they are couples and they have a right to these benefits that are given to married couples. Gay couples should receive the benefits of social security, full parental rights and the right to visit a loved one in the hospital. The gay rights movement wants to limit discrimination to gays and lesbians in everyday situations. Based on many of the views of opponents, gay is a behavior that should be fixed, and that it is unnatural because gay couples are not able to reproduce. There are many views as to why gay rights should be enforced and why they should not. Each side feels that they are correct because they are entitled to their own opinion.
