1. Both Gates and Jobs were born in 1955, on the West Coast. Both of these men’s families were greatly impacted by WWII, which ended in 1945. At this time there was a boom in births in the United States as well as in the scientific and technological world.
2. Gates father was in the U.S. Army during WWII. Gates was second of 3 children, having an older and younger sister. Gates mother was from a prominent banking family involved with United Way, which would become valuable later on in his life. Bill Gates legacy is still being written to this day, however when it comes to Microsoft, I believe the company is still a prominent competitor in today’s technological industry, and that Microsoft Office is still a viable, useful necessity in today’s world. He will always be well known for Apple, and all of its products, however Pixar and other smaller investments and creations have added value to his name. He has paved the way for passionate creative thinkers to not be afraid to go for what they love and to always strive to love what they do. Some strengths Jobs showed as a leader was his creativity and innovativeness, he wanted people to be expressive and create the next best things, always improving upon what they had. He also created a work environment that allowed individuals to think on their own, relax, and enjoy their jobs. Some weaknesses Jobs held throughout his leadership were his inability to properly reprimand or critique his subordinates, his anger, and his multi-functioning brain. By opening up multiple projects at once there was no time to focus on the particulars for all projects, which caused a decrease in quality of man hours put into each project.

He created what is called the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. “In 2008 he left the company to devote himself full-time to his charity the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation”(Harris 1). He has worked his whole life to get the success and money that he has today and instead of keeping it to himself he has given it back to society in many generous ways. He also is helping developing countries with their needs that aren't accessible to them. “They helped vaccinate African and Asian children against diseases like polio and malaria. And they have been very successful in helping get rid of these diseases for good.”(Harris 1).
