The young woman walked up on the stage dressed in white. She looked at the audience in fear. As she made her way towards the microphone to make her speech, she took deep, steady breaths. Before she began to speak, many thoughts filled her head. She finally made it to graduation! Graduation is the next step towards adulthood. She thought back to her College and Career Readiness class. She learned everything she could to help her be successful in the real world. Who is this young woman? That young woman is me. Next year is the beginning of a new chapter in my life. I know exactly what I am going to do and how I am going to do it. The steps I need to take will not be easy though. I plan on becoming a pharmacist for Licking Memorial Hospital, but first I am going to attend college at The Ohio State University for pharmaceutical sciences. One obstacle I anticipate on facing is how I am going to pay for college. I work a minimum wage job at Hot Head Burritos and I have less than $200 in my bank account. As I filed my FAFSA, it said my expected family contribution is about $23,000 a yea...
...ect to contribute my undivided attention to my work, leadership skills as well as working in a group amongst my peers, being well prepared for every class, and showing the zeal I posses to become a medical doctor. In a few years professionally I envision myself, in a hospital setting dedicating my attention, and time to patients, I envision a future of lending a helpful hand in every area possible. Personally, Obstetrics and Gyneology is what I would like to specialize in, as I intern at various clinics within the buffalo community I am proud to say I love what I do, the relief in the parents’ faces and the realization that I had made them feel a little bit more comfortable is very fulfilling. Every day is a new and exciting adventure and I hope to continue on with my path to become a medical doctor, making a difference in my life, patients life and my community.
...knew that once I completed this program and received my license from the State Board of Pharmacy, it would open the doors to many more opportunities for me and my family.
My past has inspired me to pursue a career in which I can make maximum use of my education, attributes, and abilities. Becoming a pharmacist is an extension of my genuine interest in the welfare of others. Through my academic, work and volunteering experiences, I have been able to interact with individuals from many different cultures and ages. I am confident I will respond to future patients in an empathetic and respectful manner to attain the quality of life they deserve.
There are many families were not able for the chance of college because they could not afford it. An example of this, happened to the Morais family. Richard Morais’s daughter got accepted into John Hopkins University. The whole family was happy, but with the acceptance letter was the cost for all of the expenses. All of the expenses came out to be a total of $54,470 dollars. Financial aid only paid for $6000 which left the family to pay $48,470. This caused the family to take out student loans to allow the daughter to go to college. With her taking out the loans she will graduate being $200,000 in
The entirety of my middle and high school years revolved around the idea that I would help people in a health profession, but I was never sure what that meant; so I always aimed high. I finally realized I wanted to be a pharmacist in my second year of college. I knew what pharmacists could do since I watched my dad while he worked in a small pharmacy in Queens all my life. As a teenager, my dad would bring me to work with him and I would help and shadow the pharmacist. I never thought much of the profession then, however, Mr. Masub explained to me that pharmacists didn’t just count pills. Pharmacy was a broad field filled with untapped potential, from clinical to ambulatory care. Most of all, he saw potential in me to make a real difference
I am applying for this scholarship to help me pay for college. As everyone knows it is very expensive and sometimes hard to pay for all the things involved. My family is doing everything they can to help pay for my college. One of the biggest obstacles we have faced is applying for the FAFSA. My parents do make a lot of money, but they both have student loans they have to pay. My mom has two majors so she has a lot of money to pay back to school. While applying to FAFSA, these factors are not taken into consideration so we did not get as much money as we had hoped. If I am selected to win this scholarship, it would be greatly appreciated and would help me in many ways to continue my education.
As a seventh grade student, I took a science course because it was required. At first I was scared about how well I would do and if I would get a good grade throughout the year. When the school year started, I met my teacher and he seemed really nice and he turned out to be an awesome teacher. I excelled in my science seven class and overthrew my fear of getting poor grades. My seventh grade year was the year I determined what I wanted to go to college for and that would be life science education. As I moved up the scale throughout high school I became a better student, a better athlete, and a better leader. I had the support of my family, my teachers and my friends. This helped me achieve the major goals I had set out for myself.
When you ask people what you think when word “pharmacist” come to your mind? They often say pharmacist have to deal with variety of legal drugs. From my personal opinion, when I hear the word “Pharmacist”, I think of helping others. This inspiration came from my Health Science class I took in twelve grade. Until senior year of my high school, I did not know what I wanted to be. But it all changed, after my first shadowing experience at pharmacist station. There I learn about what exactly the pharmacist career is about, what are some of the equipments used in the field and how I can contribute the knowledge I receive here to help others.
It will take a lot of hard work and tons of dedication but in the end I will be doing something that I love to do and that is helping people. I know I have a lot of work to do and I may even need to get some experience under my belt but I plan on sticking to my goal so I can be successful in my future. If my plan doesn’t work out I can always be a manager in my current field of medical billing it is a short term goal but anything is possible if you put your mind to it.Since I started from the bottom with my career in healthcare I want to move all the way to the top I don’t mind putting in the long hours and time with going back to school to get all the education I need in order for me to reach my goals. I have been in healthcare for over 14 years I started with little experience all because I went to the hospital one day for a spider bite and knew right then that this is where I need to be in healthcare . my nurse was so nice to me and she explained everything I needed to do once I left the hospital that day and what my reactions would be from the bite and since that day on I have never looked back I started school to become a medical assistant and I did that for a few years then I moved to phlebotomy and then medical billing and decided to go get certified as a medical coder and now I am getting my bachelor’s degree I am so proud of myself it has
“The cost of college education today is so high that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others are graduating deeply in debt” (Sanders). Everyone has the right to dream, and make those dreams come true. Nobody should give up on their dreams due to the fact that they cannot afford a college education. The students who do achieve their dream of going to college spend years after graduating paying for that dream. Fortunately, there are some ways students can lower the cost of college. A couple of solutions to the high cost of a college education are scholarships, FAFSA, and budgeting.
After I walk across the stage and take my diploma I will be going to medical school to accomplish my dream of being a Pediatric Dermatologist. I am unsure of which school I’d like to attend, but I prefer to stay close to home where I can see and take care of my mother on a weekly basis. I plan to finish up school and move onto my residency in a hospital which I can only hope will be Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. I have been a patient there for many years and see the arduous work and dedication they have, to helping their patients through a tough time in their life, hoping to just make the day a little easier. I have volunteered there before and have seen firsthand what joy it brings to make an impact on one child’s life.
I will look forward to becoming a healthcare administrator, and being part of a larger community. As healthcare educators, we are offered a chance to improve the quality of many peoples ' lives including family and friends. We are the faces of the community, with the common goal of building a healthy community. I want to be able to say I made a difference in someone’s life rather big or small. Being a healthcare administrator will be a lifelong career that I look forward to doing in the future.
All your life growing up, you don 't have to make any big decisions. This all changes senior year when you have to make a decision about what you are going to do with your life after high school. What you choose to do can dictate how you spend your time and money. If you do not make a choice you will not be able to move on towards being a self supporting adult. Decisions are hard to make but essential to keep moving forward.
...ell I plan to receive an academic scholarship, get students loans, and borrow money from a relative. I can aquire an academic scholarship by getting into the top five percent of William B. Travis Highschool of class 2007. I can get student loans by applying to the College Funding Services. I will get my money fast and make no payments until after graduation. Plus I have a grandpa that says he can pay for some of my college money.
A career as a clinical pharmacist seems to be the goal was working up to my entire life, even before I knew what it was. As a child I found myself fascinated by what made people sick and how to make them feel better. This interest only continued to grow through my education, culminating in my decision to attend pharmacy school upon reaching adulthood.
