Have you ever wondered what the true meaning of friendship is? I never knew how hard the word friendship was to define until someone asked me what does friendship mean to me and how would I describe the word friendship. By definition friendship is a mutual affection between two or more people, but I have learned the meaning of friendship is defined differently by different people. When I think of my friends and friendship I think of someone who I had an instant connection with, someone I could share my common interests with, and someone who understands me in ways most don’t. But then I ask myself, is this what friendship really means? Is there a deeper meaning behind the word friendship? After reading the three stories and doing random research I found out that depending on the culture and century, friendship can have many different meanings. If you look up the word friendship in a dictionary or online the definition is a person you like or enjoy being with. C.S Lewis describes explains that friendship arises out of companionship when two or more people find common interests. I can remember meeting one of my best friends through mutual interests we both discovered we had similar pasts, she had been in an abusive marriage that ended in divorce and so had I.
