Cruelness in Adventures Of Huck Finn
Throughout the tale of Huckleberry Finn as told by Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens), almost every character for his or her own reasons lies. This can be considered a commentary on the morality and ethics of man kind by Mr. Clemens. Almost no person exists that has never uttered at lease one untruth. That is one of the wonderful things about this novel. It closely mimics real life. There are characters that lie for personal gain. There are also those that lie only in hopes of helping others. Though both are lies, one can be considered courteous or even heroic at times, where the other can only appear greedy and wrong no matter what light it is viewed in. Mark Twain often uses the river to denote freedom and purity, however just as many lies are told on the river as off. This is because Twain doesn't make the assumption that all lies are wicked, and can thus attach them to his symbol of pure good. Practically every "good" character in Huckleberry Finn lies. Huck himself lies on almost countless occasions. Miss Watson lies on at least one occasion. Jim tells several lies during the tale. Tom Sawyer is practically unable to speak the truth. Yet none of these characters are seen as morally corrupt. The villainous characters lie on a constant basis in the course of the story. The king makes lying an art at times, while the duke lies without pause for his entire appearance in the story. Pap makes up numerous tales during his time in the book. All these characters are considered evil and wrongdoers. The difference is the fact that the latter characters lie in hopes of personal gain, while the first characters lie to help others, or in order to entertain. Nearly every character lies in Huckleberry Finn; it is their motivation for their lies that defines their character to the reader. Huckleberry himself tells many a lie during the story. Perhaps his biggest lie is when he fakes his own death, and makes the whole town look for his "dead carcass" (Clemens 32). This caused the widow and Miss Watson a terrible amount of heartache and concern.
The book is introduced with Behrani placing judgment on the people he works with. He is judging the other people based on their race, and their status. Behrani refers to the men he works with as if they don't deserve to even be in his presence. "He is goh, the shit of life. They are all goh," (pg 16). Even though many of the men he works with do not deserve to be regarded so low, Behrani judges them as he would if he still maintained the position he had in Iran as a colonel. Behrani and his family also judge Kathy for being American. When Behrani explains to his son the situation their family is now a part of he explains it in a way that is judging of Americans. He says, "Remember what I have told you of so many Americans: they are not disciplined and have not the courage to take responsibility ...

Huckleberry Finn: A Father Figure &nb Mark Twain, the author of Huckleberry Finn, has written a story that all will enjoy. Huck is a young boy with not much love in his life, his mother died when he was very young, and he had drunk for a father. Huck lives with the widow and she tried to raise him right. While at the widow's, Huck went to school and learned to read and write. The widow also tried to civilize him.
...eliable narrator; he begins his novel by showing that he is a character who sees things for what they really are. He acknowledges that some of the stories about himself and Tom Sawyer are exaggerated, and even suggests that Tom Sawyer was an unreliable narrator, “that book was made by Mr. Mark Twain, and he told the truth mainly. There was things which he stretched, but mainly he told the truth.” (Twain, page 4.) It seems possible for the reader to trust Huck though, especially as he himself points out that he has no reason to exaggerate his tale. “I reckoned he believed in the A-rabs and the elephants, but as for me I think different.” (Twain, page 14.) Huckleberry Finn then, is indeed, a fairly reliable narrator; he has no need to exaggerate parts of his tale and therefore he tells his story exactly as it happened, he sees and tells the truth within his tale.

Huck Finn, the main character of Twains The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, travels down the Mississippi River in search of personal truth and freedom, which ironically he achieves by living a lie. Huck's journey causes him to wear a variety of disguises and masks to survive. Unfortunately however, the people he meets along the way wear disguises which they use to deceive and cheat the same society that Huck and Jim, a runaway slave, are trying to escape from. Jim must use his own cleverness, Huck's protection and disguises in order to avoid getting caught by society. Together, all these characters use disguises, which are lies in physical forms, to their advantage. Huck's motive is to escape the rules of a restricting society. The King and the Duke are con men who want only to cheat society and take what isn't theirs. Jim uses disguises for survival, to escape from social prejudice and unfair punishment.

The city was assaulted twice and captured by Roman armies, first in 87 BC by the leaders of the populares, his Uncle Marius and Cinna. Cinna was killed the year that Caesar had married Cinna’s daughter Cornelia. The second attack upon the city was carried out by Marius’ enemy Sulla, leader of the optimates, in 82 BC on Sulla’s return from the East. The confiscation of property resulted from the massacre of political opponents on each occasion.
Julius Caesar is the leader of Rome and is seeking to become king in a matter of time. When they shall see the face of Caesar, they are vanished” (II, ii, 575). Th...

In William Shakespeare's play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, two speeches are given to the people of Rome about Caesar's death. In Act 3, Scene 2 of this play Brutus and Antony both try to sway the minds of the Romans toward their views. Brutus tried to make the people believe he killed Caesar for a noble cause. Antony tried to persuade the people that the conspirators committed an act of brutality toward Caesar and were traitors. The effectiveness and ineffectiveness of both Antony's and Brutus's speech to the people are conveyed through tone and rhetorical devices.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, is an immensely realistic novel, revealing how a child's morals and actions clash with those of the society around him. Twain shows realism in almost every aspect of his writing; the description of the setting, that of the characters, and even the way characters speak. Twain also satirizes many of the foundations of that society. Showing the hypocrisy of people involved in education, religion, and romanticism through absurd, yet very real examples. Most importantly, Twain shows the way Huckleberry's moral beliefs form amidst a time of uncertainty in his life.
“Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare is the story of the assassination of Julius Caesar. Two speeches were made after his death, one being by Mark Antony. He uses many rhetorical devices in this speech to counter the previous speech and persuade the crowd that the conspirators who killed Caesar were wrong. Rhetoric is the art of persuasion and these many devices strengthen this by making points and highlighting flaws. Antony uses many rhetorical devices, all of which are used to persuade the crowd that the conspirators are wrong and Caesar did not need to be killed.
Julius Caesar was born on July 13, 102 B.C, into one of the oldest patrician families in Rome and was a guaranteed member of the democratic or popular party. His family, being aristocratic, was reserved and rather ordinary in political and military achievement. When he was young he got the advantage of an arranged marriage by his uncle, Caius Marius, and was married to Cornelia (daughter of Cinna) in 84 B.C. Caesar was proscribed and subsequently fled from Rome once he refused to abide by Sulla’s order to divorce Cornelia in 82B.C. In cause to disobey the dictator Sulla, Caesar chose to shun arrest by hiding in the Sabine country. Not long after, Caesar soon got malaria. During his nonattendance, his mother’s family succeeded in gaining a pardon for him.
Julius Gaius Caesar was born on July 12, 100 BC to the patrician parents of Gaius Caesar and Aurelia Cotta. Even though he was born patrician, he considered himself from a young age as part of the popularis in order to gain their support. This assisted him in gaining more support once he became a political power in the future. Caesar’s father died which made Caesar the head of the household at only 16 years old. And in order to benefit the household, Caesar got himself nominated as the High Priest of Jupiter and eventually married Cornelia when he was 18. Unfortunately, when Sulla declared himself dictator he demanded Caesar to divorce Cornelia and he refused to. This angered Sulla, so he seized Caesar’s land, his wife’s dowry and his priesthood. This forced Caesar to join the Roman military since he had no way to make money. He was very successful in the military and he was given the civic crown, an award, for saving a fellow soldier in battle. For his heroics, he was promoted to the military legate to Bithynia. Sulla soon died after this and Caesar returned to Rome. In Rome, he became a successful speaker as an orator, or lawyer. He was a natural born speaker and would later use his talent to his advantage.
