Affirmative Action is Against the Bible
America was known as the Land of Opportunity. Then it became evident
that "opportunity" was only available to white men. Later, laws were
passed to ensure equal opportunity regardless of race, sex, or religion.
These Affirmative Action laws were set in place by our government with the
intent of correcting the social evil know as prejudice; but in doing so,
they created a monster. Affirmative action has become an ineffective,
outdated, and socially harmful policy that is weakening our great nation.
"The adoption of Affirmative Action programs in the 1960s reflected
our national aspiration to overcome long-entrenched injustices and become a
society where equal opportunity, or at least a fair opportunity, was a
reality for more of our citizens. These programs were a response to
economic, political and cultural circumstances that demanded, then
encouraged, and then tolerated widespread discrimination on the basis of
such factors as color, gender and ethnic background. The common hope was
that these programs would be transitory in nature and would enable us as a
society to reach a point, at some future date, when they would no longer be
needed" (Shapiro). It is my opinion that we have now reached that date.
Continued use of the policy is much like continued use of a strong
medication. When a patient is suffering from a terrible disease, as was
the United States suffering from discrimination, strong medication is
sometimes needed to cure the problem. But once the disease is taken care
of, further use of the medication does not help...

has always been true, but is quite often broken, resulting is negative
effects and more problems. A course of action that is morally wrong,
ethically wrong, and economically wrong, is not the correct way, but an
easier way. Often, the correct way is more difficult and requires more
work, but nevertheless, it is the correct way. Two wrongs do not make a
right, but they do make more problems and prolong an actual resolution to
the problem.

In the second stanza, Frost lets the reader know that the traveler has chosen to take the path less traveled by: "Then took the other, just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim." The path that the speaker chose to travel down was obviously not for everyone, hence “the road less traveled by." The fact that the traveler took this path over the more popular, secure one indicates the type of personality he has. He does not feel the need to follow the crowd but rather to do more of what has never been done before.

Social movement is a key driver of social change. Social movement can be defined as groups of individuals or organizations that have a main focus on political or social issues. The movements build off of a collective behavior to promote a particular idea that is to be implemented on a society wide scale. The Civil Rights movement is perhaps the most well-known social movement occurring in the 1960s. Its success led to the creation of many more social movements that used similar tactics to push their ideas.
The Transformation of the American Society was drastically effected by the Civil Rights movement and the antiwar movements that occurred during the 1960s and 1970s. These movements gained momentum quickly as public sentiment saw the everlasting war in Vietnam and the domestic violence within the country as unneccessary.
Despite there being many reasons as to why people discriminate homosexuals, the most popular ones are due to their religion or cultural norm. They include acts of verbal and physical abuse towards individuals who are homosexual. For those who are homosexuals, they are verbally abused by name calling such as fag, homo or sissy more than two dozen a day. There was a survey conducted by Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network and found that 86 percent of LGBT teens are being harassed at school in 2007. In 2013, 82 percent of teens had problems from previous year with bullying about sexual orientation. 64 percent felt unsafe at school and 32 percent did no go to school because of feeling unsafe. Even as an adult homosexual are attacked verbally.
The entire poem including the first stanza, as scanned here, is octametre with mostly trochaic feet and some iams. The use of a longer line enables the poem to be more of a narration of the evening's events. Also, it enables Poe to use internal rhymes as shown in bold. The internal rhyme occurs in the first and third lines of each stanza. As one reads the poem you begin to expect the next rhyme pushing you along. The external rhyme of the "or" sound in Lenore and nevermore at then end of each stanza imitates the haunting nature of the narrator's thoughts. The internal rhyme along with the same external rhyme repeated at the end of each stanza and other literary devices such as alliteration and assonance and give the poem a driving chant-like sound. The musicality of the rhyme also helps one to memorize the poem. This helps keep the poem in your head after you've finished reading it, lingering in your thoughts just as the narrator's thoughts are haunting him. The rhyme also helps to produce a humming beat in the readers mind driving him on steadily..

As a United States citizen who was born in the new millennium, I was brought up with the idea that, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” This statement was one of the main sources of fuel for the Civil Rights Movements in the mid 1950’s/60’s in the United States. Minority groups have often been mistreated in the United States culminating in movements much like that of the women’s suffrage movement, civil rights movements and now a movement toward equality for the LGBTQIA. In the last few decades a new minority group, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex and allies, and their struggle to attain their right to the pursuit of happiness. This small makes up roughly 4 percent of the US population. Though many say that gay marriage will weaken the moral foundation of our country, it should be legalized, not only because banning it is unconstitutional, but also because strips people of their human rights

Also, President Johnson wanted a new civil rights bill and he signed it into law on July 2, 1964(Civil Rights Act for Kids of 1964). Within hours of its passage on July 2, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson, with Martin Luther King Jr., Dorothy Height, Roy Wilkins, John Lewis, and other civil rights leaders
The Civil Right Movement gave equality to black people. This changed the way they were treated specially in the south. Many people have heard about this movement, but there is only a few amount of people that actually know what it really is. Sexual discrimination, also known as gender discrimination is prejudice based on the sex of a person. Throughout history, discrimination against people of any kind, for countless reasons, have led to many catastrophes. While sexual discrimination may not seem to bring any sort of impending doom, it causes traumatic effects on individual worldwide. It does this by affecting many aspects of a person’s life, such as their emotional and physical well-being. Sexual discrimination also plays an effect on religion.
