The Nation has had many great leaders; ones that have been able organize The United States throughout all of the changes this society has been through. Many Americans would say that the early Presidents; Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln were men of honor with great minds. These men had the respect from populations all over the world, there was a reason for that, and it was because they had the people of the Nation in mind when conducting all types of business. The history of the United States has been full of trials and tribulations, while the population is still able to keep a sense of nationalism and pride in their country. It is the leader of the country that must uphold this sense of pride, even during the tough times. Some of the toughest times that have been had in the United States came at once within a twelve year period, without a strong and intelligent man leading the country; Americans could have lost their pride and sense of nationalism.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was that man of great power, during his presidency he saw more than any other man wanted to imagine. Franklin Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882 to James and Sara Delano Roosevelt in Hyde Park, New York (Freidel). A few things about Roosevelt’s would be considered unordinary in the year 2014, but in the year 1882 the people who got married and had children were not looked at as odd in any way, especially two very wealthy people such as James and Sara Roosevelt. The couple had a large age difference, as she was twenty seven and he was fifty four. On top of that the couple were distant cousins to one another, and both had their own wealth (Franklin D. In 1930, Roosevelt began to campaign for the presidency of the United States. (Franklin Roosevelt library) In 1932 he was elected to first of his four terms as President of the United States. This was a third time since the Civil War that the Democrats gained power. Roosevelt pledged to his party a New Deal for the American people.
