Frank Capra was born in Sicily and raised in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from California Institute of Technology he joined the military for it’s in battle in World War I. During this time he became ill and was discharged. While recovering in L.A. he reprioritized and was cast as an extra in 1919’s The Outcasts of Poker Flat. Capra bluffed his way into the director's seat at studios in San Francisco. He eventually helped Columbia Pictures transition from silent films to talkies in the early 1930s’. By 1947, he had a total of six nominations, half of which he won. His most notable films include the comedies like It Happened One Night, Lady for the Day and It’s a Wonderful Life.
