1)The subfields of anthropology seem quite diverse in their specific subjects and methods. Why, then, are they all considered parts of the single discipline of anthropology? What ties them together? Anthropology is such a diverse and broad field that it needs to be put into four subfields. Anthropology is “the holistic, scientific study of human kind” (Parks, 2014). This means that it cannot only have one field. Each subfield study different things and in various ways but when it all comes into prospective it's about the human life. Parks stated that, “every anthropologist wants to know why we have a tendency as humans to behave as we do, change constantly, have different cultural behaviors and the ability to constantly evolve” …show more content…

In what ways is the human primate unique? The human primate is typical in many ways. The main factor is sexual dimorphism which are physical differences between a female and a male. We all need food and water to survive. Our face consist of eyes being the same and pointing in just one direction. We all have similarities such as our hands and skin. Human walk with two legs which is known as bipedal. Another factor is that we all have opposable thumbs and minimal facial hair. The facial hair allows us to communicate with one another especially with our facial expressions. Every human has the same type of organs to survive. Lastly, we all get the same diseases one way or another. According to Douglas Adams, “Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so” (Douglas Adams). So what truly makes us human primates unique? No human is the same as far as some traits go. Although, we all have a body structure there is a significant different. The human primate anatomy between a female and a male is distinctively different. The female has less upper body mass than a male. The male body structure is greater than a female. Females have breast that feed their young when giving birth meanwhile men don't. We all have different eye colors, hair colors and skin tones. Our voices are different and we …show more content…

According to Parks, “they were known as nearly human” (Park,2014). They were found in places that consisted of Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa. They were dated as far back as 2.5 million years ago. “They were a robust type, they had a large crest on top of the skull for the attachment of chewing muscles, as well as the large cheekbones and the broad, dished-out face—all evidence of a diet of tough, gritty vegetable matter” (Parks, 2014).
