Four Day School Week

Should school be four days a week? For a long time, many school systems have worked with a five day school week. Five day school weeks could be a long time for kids and it could lead to stress, more absences, and less attentive students. Few school districts in the country use the obvious solution, which is a four day school week. In my opinion, four days could be the solution to stress, more absences, and less attentive students. Having a four day school week could benefit both teachers and students. It gives more time for teachers to plan lessons and more time for students to relax their brains or finish their work. First of all, four day school weeks could lead to improvement in a student’s grades and test scores. Four day school weeks could lead to less stress which could help students study better and be more attentive when lessons are being taught. For example, nymag.com tells us that, “Anderson and Walker found that math scores improved for the school’s fourth and fifth graders.” Stress is most likely the reason so many kids have trouble with grades. The solution could be a four day school week which could decrease the number of days and lessons a student misses.
