Management has to deal with a variety of different forces that pull and push their businesses in a number of direction. It is basically like an obstacle course, there are new things that he or she might have never dealt with, or challenges that will arise that will test management’s abilities. Management as a whole focuses on four key functions. The four basic functions of management include planning, organizing leading and controlling. Planning, is creating a specific outline of the steps that one will take to be successful, Organizing, is getting the team together to support the plan, Leading, shows vision and motivation to reach the goal of the plan and last Controlling, is keeping all the pieces and parts of the plan moving together. For any manager to authentically apply the four basic functions of management, they have to be able to adapt and be accepting of innovative ideas. However, how diversity affects the four function of management is when planning one must have the insight to take in to consideration issues of diversity, they must be able to reflect the diversity of their consumer in every aspect of their business. When organizing it is vital to include diversity because in order to build a strong foundation management must be diverse in their experiences and accomplishment. When leading one must understand external and internal diversity issues, and in order to be a good leader one must recruit, retain and develop diverse talent in order to promote diversity within the team. And last diversity in controlling can be beneficial because people with differing ethnic backgrounds will have different views on things. Therefore, allowing them to identify any weaknesses or problems within a process.
