The Scarlet Letter Hester was forgiven while Dimmesdale was not. Dimmesdale was a violent town at the time. People had really harsh punishments for stupid reasons. Hanging people was most of their punishments. Hester was not as bad as Dimmesdale. She neglected a baby because she couldn’t get food for it. Dimmesdale felt like you just walked into Hell. People being hung as punishment. People die for something that they didn't know was wrong. People also being hung for the most stupidest things. You would of been punished if you were not married. Pearl was punished for not being married. That is a really stupid thing to be punished for. Dimmesdale better clean up their act and get their facts straight. Hester was forgiven while Dimmesdale
