It is hard to endure the pains and fight back to live. However, most people try to hold until the last moments. Euthanasia is nothing less than forcefully ending ones life. Euthanasia would just kill us in one second without second thoughts. If euthanasia became legalized then it would ruin the future by letting the all ill patients die without letting them to say goodbye to their family or our close people. We all are valuable and no one’s life should be sacrificed. Legalized euthanasia would not be beneficial in the long run because people may be asked to volunteer to die, doctors would give up on their patients and it will ruin the future of medical advancement.
Pressure could kill some people and abuse them. Especially, someone who is weakened by ill. There are many stresses for patients such as, financial and family issue. For example, if some patient’s family is really poor and could not afford to pay the treatments or the family member of the patient is tired taking care of the patient and patients feel sorry for them. They will start to consider euthanasia even though they may want to live longer and they might get pressured easily. If euthanasia became legalized then in the end, they might be asked to volunteer to die from the pressure of financial and family issue. Thus, sometimes they will not be able to refuse because of the pressure they feel and because of the guilt they feel towards the others. “People who are ill and dependent can often feel worthless and an undue burden on those who love and care for them” (). It is sad but vulnerable people may think euthanasia as a door to free themselves because of the pressure from others, such as family members will effect patient’s emotion and they will try to euthanize th...

Legalized euthanasia would not be effective because some people will ask to die by pressure, some irresponsible doctors would let the patients die or kill them and it will ruin the future of medical advancement.

Some people refuse treatment could be motivated to live and attempt to enjoy whatever is left of their life. If active euthanasia became legal, then people would give up their life easily without trying to live longer. This objection does not undermine my position against euthanasia. Everyone should be grateful for every second of his or her life. Life often comes with endless privileges. Breathing is a privilege to live. Death should not be easy as our breaths and heartbeats will come to a stop. Death would only be pleasant if we are content with our overall life. Euthanasia would make death an easy way out. We should always try to live as long as possible because there is always a chance. If medical science cannot help us, then we should try to make the best of whatever is left. Requesting active euthanasia would mean quitting, and no one should ever quit because once you quit, you can never come
Patients seek relief from symptoms such as unremitting severe pain, breathing difficulties such as choking and suffocation, nausea and vomiting. When a patient refuses treatment or is taken off of it they will endure endless amounts of pain and suffering before they actually die. If the patient is given lethal medication, the death would be much swifter and peaceful. Euthanasia in Greek means “painless, happy death” as stated in http://www.psychiatrictimes.com/articles/commentary-case-against-physician-assisted-suicide-right-end-life-care. Patients feel as if their bodies are turning against them. They realize they cannot eat, drink, or even go to the bathroom by themselves. Patient’s whose lungs are failing have to be hooked up to a breathing tube acquiring massive doses of morphine for weeks to ease the pain until they pass. This is no different than PSA only the patient wouldn’t have to suffer as long. On the other hand physical pain is not the only form of suffering. One must take in to consideration the patient’s mental health. When the patient knows they are going to die and they understand more pain and suffering are to come the more humane way would be to let the patient choose to die peacefully. Also a patient that is psychologically suffering could decide to end their lives themselves in a non-peaceful manner. Doctors can allow the patient to end the
Suffering in pain and knowing that there is no hope is a horrible thing to experience as we live. Lying on a hospital bed in misery and grief because of a condition or illness that is hopeless is completely depressing to anyone. Euthanasia is one of the most controversial issues in society due to the difference in people’s point of views about dying. Although the lives of many patients can be saved with the latest breakthroughs in treatments and technology, we are still unable to find treatment for all diseases, and these patients have to go through painful or treatments that have greater risk than benefits only to prolong their life with little or no chance of full recovery. These patients struggle with physical and emotional pain for the reason that they feel like they are worthless because they can’t move or decide rationally. Euthanasia should be an option to certain terminal ill people because it allows them to choose whether they want to die or live a painful life.
Death is something almost everyone fears, but the people that aren’t afraid are the ones suffering from terminal disease and other life-threatening illness. Euthanasia and physician assisted suicide are very serious topics in the medical community, as supporters to legalization argue that it’s the right of the person to live or die, while on the other side opponents argue legalizing it me1ans that doctors will have the ability to kill patients and that the government approves it. Euthanasia is legal in multiple countries including Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada. Physician assisted suicide is legal in a lot of countries including; Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. Euthanasia is widely conversed in the world and has been since it was first
Euthanasia despite having its general un-appeal is supported by many people in society, because it allows us to have freedom of choice in life. The individuals are spared the misery of a disease that is incurable. The people can overcome the pain and torture leading to an inevitable death. Euthanasia might seem like running away from the problem at hand. However, we must realize that many people face outcomes where they suffer and are literally tortured until they die. Cases such as various forms of cancer come to mind. In these cases the people know the end is coming, all this pain, and suffering will lead only to death 's door. The human body on its own is unable to fight and stop cancer. People
This pain then makes their physical appearance change, and sometimes unrecognizable. Euthanasia should be legalized; it is very hard on the body to go through this slow and painful journey that leads to death. According to Listverse, “Death is usually slow, painful, and undignified. By refusing people the “right” to end their own lives, we’re increasing that pain and indignity to a horrifying extent.” This quote shows how much pain and distress the patient is feeling, making it hard for them to live an enjoyable and fulfilled life. The legalization of euthanasia would prevent this, making a more humane death for the
Envision being diagnosed with end stage cancer. You are only given a few months remaining to live. Your doctor informs you of all the frightening and painful experiences lying ahead of you. As your health beings to deteriorate, your family no longer recognizes the person that you once were. Would you choose the path to suffering tremendous amounts of pain, or would you want to die peacefully? Euthanasia is an assisted death option for those who are diagnosed with an incurable disease. It is the permissive right of voluntary suicide, to prevent those who are terminally ill from suffering in vain. Some terminally ill patients suffer a great deal of pain, and do not wish to prolong their suffering. Euthanasia ensures that a person with a degenerative disease can end their own life with the assistance of the medical community.
One of the main reasons people want to legalize euthanasia is to free the patient from pain. They want the patient to have a dignified death and choose how they want their life to end. A person could go into a vegetative state where they cannot think for themselves or live the life they used to live. They are now trapped in a body without being able to do anything. Being in a
In the end, it really all comes down to each of us as individuals who should be free to make our own choices on how we leave this world if we find ourselves in the unlucky fate of suffering through any form of debilitating illness. Our constitution gives us certain rights and freedoms as it relates to religion, speech, and our right to bear arms, so too should we have the right to die with the dignity we deserve by having a say in how we die when we can. That being said, with every right that is afforded comes great responsibility: As a society, we cannot bury our heads in the sand and pretend that the issues that contribute to the great divide when it comes to sensitive topics like euthanasia will go away if we do nothing
In review, euthanasia is performed when the pain is too much for the patient. It is, overall, the patient’s life—their right and their choice. Everyone deserves to die compassionately, knowing that they will slip away painlessly. Everyone deserves to have a choice, especially when it comes to the manner of their death. If euthanasia is not legalized, many people will debilitating illnesses may take their lives in much more horrific ways. If they want the suffering to end badly enough, it is simply done one way or
Suffering is a big deciding factor for people when it comes to euthanasia and when deciding if they should accept its many options. If someone is suffering from a sickness or illness and has been for a long period of time, they should have the choice of euthanasia. In the book Of Mice and Men Curly said, “I’m gonna get him. I’m going for my shotgun. I’ll kill the big son-of-a-bitch myself. I’ll shoot him in the guts.” (Steinbeck 96) Curly was going to make Lennie suffer and George, knowing that, euthanized Lennie so he wouldn’t have to suffer from what Curly was going to do to him. George wanted the best for Lennie. People have a hard time accepting euthanasia and the many different way euthanasia can be used. Euthanasia can be used in many
If euthanasia were legal many will have the right to end their low quality life. The thought of not being able to stand, eat the foods you desire or being able to feel the touch of a love is nerve wrecking. How do you sleep at night knowing that you or your family member have to rely on someone to bath you, feed you, and turn you over every two hours? Think about the nosocomial infections that can be transferred to you from a poorly trained worker in the hospital. Let alone the outer appearance of that Miss America face or jock of the school body from chemotherapy tearing you apart. Everyone protesting taking a life is not fair. No one can look at the bigger picture until the disease is knocking at their front
.... Palliative care also focuses on the life quality improvement of the patients, allowing them to recover the dignities of life before death. In all these cases, it is ruled out that any case of euthanasia is morally justifiable due to the aforementioned reason. However, when the patient himself shifts his interest from his own to others, especially the poor and needy, voluntary euthanasia will become sacrificial euthanasia, as viewed by others. In this case, euthanasia is neither akin to murder nor suicide. Instead it is a form of charity towards others, while abandoning one's own interest for the sake of others. This sacrifice holds a high view of the sanctity of life as it tries to help the life of others but is still not enough to push euthanasia into an acceptable mode. Euthanasia is taking the lead on a very dangerous road that society has decided to embark on.
Euthanasia, as defined by the Encarta Encyclopedia, is the “practice of mercifully ending a person’s life in order to release the person from incurable disease, intolerable suffering, or undignified death” (Encarta, 2004). Euthanasia is a Greek word, which means “good death.” As humans, we understand death is something we cannot avoid but having some control over death is empowering and reassuring to us. If someone is suffering from a terminal illness, intolerable pain, or in a long-term coma, euthanasia is an acceptable option for someone to end his or her life. With the consent of their doctor(s) these people should be able to have the law on their side supporting their decisions.
First of all, euthanasia saves money and resources. The amount of money for health care in each country, and the number of beds and doctors in each hospital are limited. It is a huge waste if we use those money and resources to lengthen the lives of those who have an incurable disease and want to die themselves rather than saving the lives of the ones with a curable ailment. When we put those patients who ask for euthanasia to death, then the waiting list for each hospital will shorten. Then, the health care money of each country, the hospital beds, and the energy of the doctors can be used on the ones who can be cured, and can get back to normal and able to continue contributing to the society. Isn’t this a better way of using money and resources rather than unnaturally extend those incurable people’s lives?
